Description: A high positive magnetoresistance (MR), 78%, is observed at 2 K on the ab plane of the diamagnetic RuSb2+ semiconductor. On the ac plane, MR is 44% at 2 K, and about 7% at 300 K. MR at different temperatures do not follow the Kohler’s rule. It suggests that the multiband effect plays a role on the carrier transportation. RuSb2+ is a semiconductor with both positive and negative carriers. The quantum interference effect with the weak localization correction lies behind the high positive MR at low temperature. Judged from the ultraviolet–visible spectra, it has a direct band gap of 1.29 eV. The valence band is 0.39 eV below the Fermi energy. The schematic energy band structure is proposed based on experimental results.

Description: Background: A series of reforms were implemented to improve the quality of primary care services in China. This study aims to assess patients’ perceived quality of primary healthcare between rural and urban community health centers in Guangdong. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from July to December 2015 in Guangdong. We surveyed 1010 respondents who visited either community health centers/stations (CHCs/CHSs) in urban areas or township health centers/rural health stations (THCs/RHSs) in rural areas. A validated Chinese version of the Primary Care Assessment Tool-Adult Short Version (PCAT-AS), representing ten primary care domains, was used to collect information on patients’ primary care experiences. A t-test was used for comparison on domain scores and total scores between patients from CHCs/CHSs and THCs/RHSs. An analysis of covariance was employed to compare the adjusted PCAT domain scores and total scores. Multilevel models were used to explore factors associated with PCAT total scores. Results: Overall, patients reported a lower level of experience of community orientation and family centeredness compared to other primary care domains. Patients from THCs/RHSs settings in the rural area reported better primary care experience in four domains, including first contact, accessibility, ongoing care, and community orientation. Higher education background and those with a chronic disease were associated with better primary care experience, after controlling for confounding factors. Patients who preferred primary care institutions when getting sick or used health services more frequently reported better primary care experiences. Conclusion: Continued efforts are needed to strengthen primary care performances, particularly in a community orientation and family centeredness. Primary care delivery in CHCs/CHSs settings should be improved in four domains, including first contact, accessibility, ongoing care, and community orientation.

Description: The recent development of the mobile Internet and the rise of social media have significantly enriched the way people access information. Accurate modeling of the probability of information propagation between users is essential for studying information dissemination issues in social networks. As the dissemination of information is inseparable from the interactions between users, the probability of propagation can be characterized by such interactions. In general, there are differences in the dissemination modes of information that carry different topics in a real social network. Using these factors, we propose a method (TMIVM) to measure the mutual influence between users at the topic level. The method associates two vectorization parameters for each user—an influence vector and a susceptibility vector—where the dimensions of the vector represent different topic categories. The magnitude of the mutual influence between users on different topics can be obtained by the product of the corresponding elements of the vectors. Specifically, in this article, we fit a social network historical information cascade data through Survival Analysis to learn the parameters of the influence and susceptibility vectors. The experimental results on a synthetic data set and a real Microblog data set show that this method better measures the propagation probability and information cascade predictions compared to other methods.

Description: This study evaluates trends in workforce supply compared with those in the volume of service delivery (output) for basic clinical care (CC) and public health (PH) services from 2009 to 2017 in China. A cross-sectional survey (2018) was combined with retrospective data (2009–2017) from 785 primary care (PC) facilities in six provinces. Measures for the output of clinical care and of public health services were aggregated into a single (weighted) index for both service profiles. The output–workforce relationship was measured by its ratio. Latent class growth analysis and logistic regression analysis were applied to classify trajectories and determine associations with facility-level, geographic, and economic characteristics. From 2009 to 2017, the proportion of PC to overall healthcare workforce decreased from 24.25% to 18.57%; the proportion of PH to PC providers at PC facilities increased from 23.6% to 29.5%, while the proportion of PH output increased from 44.3% to 65.9%. Four trajectories of the output–workforce relationship were identified for CC, and five trajectories for PH services of which 85.3% of the facilities showed initially increasing and then slightly decreasing trends. Geographic characteristics impacted different trajectories. The PC workforce falls behind hospital workforce. The expansion in workload of PH services is unbalanced with that of workforce.

Description: Nanofluids are attracting attention as future energy carriers owing to their high performance for improving combustion and heat transfer. In this study, the macroscopic characteristics of nanofluid jets in a subsonic gaseous crossflow were investigated by focusing on the influence of nanoparticle additives on the breakup process. Based on a distribution map of the image grayscale standard deviation, we propose an improved method to process transverse injection shadowgraphs. A simplified model of the transition mechanism from column breakup to surface breakup at a small Weber number was established. The effects of nanoparticles on the jet trajectory and column fracture position were analyzed according to the deviations from the pure liquid. To interpret the effects of the nanoparticles, a new nondimensional parameter was introduced into the empirical correlation of the column fracture position. The results indicated that at low concentrations of nanoparticles, the surface tension of the nanofluids increased slightly, while the viscosity increased significantly (by up to 23%). These changes in the physical properties had little effect on the breakup regimes or jet trajectory. Moreover, the nanoparticles promoted cavitation inside the liquid column, resulting in an additional primary breakup mode for the nanofluids. Consequently, the length of the column fracture was reduced by up to 20% compared with that of the basic fluid.

Description: Concrete has low porosity and compact microstructure, and thus can be vulnerable to high temperature, and the increasing application of various types of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in concrete makes its high-temperature resistant behavior more complex. In this study, we investigate the effects of four formulations with typical SCMs combinations of fly ash (FA), ultra-fine fly ash (UFFA) and metakaolin (MK), and study the effects of SCMs combinations on the thermal performance, microstructure, and the crystalline and amorphous phases evolution of concrete subjected to high temperatures. The experimental results showed that at 400 °C, with the addition of 20% FA (wt %), the thermal conductivity of the sample slightly increased to 1.5 W/(m·K). Replacing FA with UFFA can further increase the thermal conductivity to 1.7 W/(m·K). Thermal conductivity of concrete slightly increased at 400 °C and significantly reduced at 800 °C. Further, combined usage of SCMs delayed and reduced micro-cracks of concrete subjected to high temperatures. This study demonstrates the potential of combining the usage of SCMs to promote the high-temperature performance of concrete and explains the micro-mechanism of concrete containing SCMs at high temperatures.

Description: An accurate estimation of the state of charge for lithium battery depends on an accurate identification of the battery model parameters. In order to identify the polarization resistance and polarization capacitance in a Thevenin equivalent circuit model of lithium battery, the discharge and shelved states of a Thevenin circuit model were analyzed in this paper, together with the basic reasons for the difference in the resistance capacitance time constant and the accurate characterization of the resistance capacitance time constant in detail. The exact mathematical expression of the working characteristics of the circuit in two states were deduced thereafter. Moreover, based on the data of various working conditions, the parameters of the Thevenin circuit model through hybrid pulse power characterization experiment was identified, the simulation model was built, and a performance analysis was carried out. The experiments showed that the accuracy of the Thevenin circuit model can become 99.14% higher under dynamic test conditions and the new identification method that is based on the resistance capacitance time constant. This verifies that this method is highly accurate in the parameter identification of a lithium battery model.

Description: In traditional underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs), it is difficult to establish reliable communication links as the acoustic wave experiences severe multipath effect, channel fading, and ambient noise. Recently, with the assistance of magnetic induction (MI) technique, cooperative multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) is utilized in UWSNs to enable the reliable long range underwater communication. Compared with the acoustic-based UWSNs, the UWSNs adopting MI-assisted acoustic cooperative MIMO are referred to as heterogeneous UWSNs, which are able to significantly improve the effective cover space and network throughput. Due to the complex channel characteristics and the heterogeneous architecture, the connectivity of underwater MI-assisted acoustic cooperative MIMO networks is much more complicated than that of acoustic-based UWSNs. In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed to analyze the connectivity of the networks, which considers the effects of channel characteristics, system parameters, and synchronization errors. The lower and upper bounds of the connectivity probability are also derived, which provide guidelines for the design and deployment of underwater MI-assisted acoustic cooperative MIMO networks. Monte Carlo simulations were performed, and the results validate the accuracy of the proposed model.

Description: Self-circulation wellbore is a new technique for geothermal development in hot dry rocks (HDR), which uses a U-shape channel composed of tubing and casing as the heat exchanger. In this study, a self-circulation wellbore in HDR on a laboratory scale was built, and a serial of experiments were conducted to investigate the heat exchange law and the influencing factors on the heat mining rate of the wellbore. A similarity analysis was also made to estimate the heat-mining capacity of the wellbore on a field scale. The experimental results show that the large thermal conductivity and heat capacity of granite with high temperature can contribute to a large heat-mining rate. A high injection rate can cause a high convective heat transfer coefficient in wellbore, while a balance is needed between the heat mining rate and the outlet temperature. An inner tubing with low thermal conductivity can significantly reduce the heat loss to the casing annulus. The similarity analysis indicates that a heat mining rate of 1.25 MW can be reached when using a 2000 m long horizontal well section in a 150 °C HDR reservoir with a circulation rate of 602.8 m3/day. This result is well corresponding to the published data.

Description: The increasing concerns of the geographical maldistribution of medical resources have sparked worldwide interests in exploring the potential of telemedicine in the rural health system. This study aimed to investigate the application and effect of telemedicine as well as their regional heterogeneity in the primary care centres in rural China. Based on the stratified multistage cluster sampling, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 358 township health centres (THCs) from eastern, central and western China. A self-administered questionnaire was used and the data of the Health Statistical Annual Reports in 2017 were collected to investigate the implication of telemedicine as well as the performance and other characteristics of each THCs. Propensity score matching was used to estimate the effect of telemedicine application on the bed occupancy rate and the number of annual outpatient visits of the THCs, with comparison among the regions. The overall prevalence of telemedicine application was 58.66% in 2017, and it was found to increase the bed occupancy rate of the THCs in the national range (p 〈 0.1). When divided into different regions, telemedicine was found to improve the number of annual outpatient visits in western China (p 〈 0.05) and the bed occupancy rate in eastern China (p 〈 0.1). Disparities in the degree of remoteness and the capability of THCs among the regions were also found in this study, which may be the reasons for the regional heterogeneous effects of telemedicine. These findings suggested the potential of telemedicine in improving the utilization of primary care centres in rural areas. Further studies were needed to investigate the underlying reasons for its regional heterogeneous effects.
