    Description: High-performance pumping concrete has been widely used in high-rise building construction because of its superior qualities. However, early cracking problems can occur in cast-in-place pumping concrete, which is due to the excessive use of cement. In this paper, an innovative concrete mixing procedure called “post-filling coarse aggregate concrete” (PFCC) was adopted and applied to large slump concrete. The influence of the post-filling coarse aggregate (PFA) ratio on the mechanical properties of large slump concrete were investigated. Three different concrete strength grades (C30, C40 and C50) and five different PFA ratios (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) were considered. The designed slump for the reference concrete was 180–200 mm. Experimental tests on the compressive strength of cubic specimens, axial compressive strength of prism specimens, splitting tensile strength, modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity were performed. All tests were conducted in room conditions. Results showed that the slump of the PFCC decreases as the PFA ratio increases. It also indicated that, in general, the mechanical properties of PFCC are not linearly increasing as the PFA ratio rises, and there exists a turning point. Based on the experimental investigation and analysis in this study, the optimum post-filling coarse aggregate ratio is recommended to be 20%.

    Description: The insulation of mineral oil-based nanofluids was found to vary with different concentration level of nanoparticles. However, the mechanisms behind this research finding are not well studied. In this paper, mineral oil-based nanofluids were prepared by suspending TiO2 nanoparticles with weight percentages ranging from 0.0057% to 0.0681%. The breakdown voltage and chop time of nanofluids were observed under standard lightning impulse waveform. The experimental results show that the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles increases the breakdown voltage of mineral oil under positive polarity. The enhancement of breakdown strength tends to saturate when the concentration of nanoparticle exceeds 0.0227 wt%. Electronic traps formed at the interfacial region of nanoparticles, which could capture fast electrons in bulk oil and reduce the net density of space charge in front of prebreakdown streamers, are responsible for the breakdown strength enhancement. When the particle concentration level is higher, the overlap of Gouy–Chapman diffusion layers results in the saturation of trap density in nanofluids. Consequently, the breakdown strength of nanofluids is saturated. Under negative polarity, the electrons are likely to be scattered by the nanoparticles on the way towards the anode, resulting in enhanced electric fields near the streamer tip and the decrement of breakdown voltage.

    Description: Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was simultaneously collected from the indoor and outdoor environments in urban area of Jinan in North China from November to December 2018 to evaluate the characteristics and sources of indoor PM2.5 pollution. The concentrations of indoor and outdoor PM2.5 were 69.0 ± 50.5 µg m−3 and 128.7 ± 67.9 µg m−3, respectively, much higher than the WHO-established 24-h standards for PM2.5, indicating serious PM2.5 pollution of indoor and outdoor environments in urban Jinan. SO42−, NO3−, NH4+, and organic carbon (OC) were the predominant components, which accounted for more than 60% of the PM2.5 concentration. The total elemental risk values in urban Jinan for the three highly vulnerable groups of population (children (aged 2–6 years and 6–12 years) and older adults (≥70 years)) were nearly 1, indicating that exposure to all of the elements in PM2.5 had potential non-carcinogenic risks to human health. Further analyses of the indoor/outdoor concentration ratios, infiltration rates (FINF), and indoor-generated concentration (Cig) indicated that indoor PM2.5 and its major chemical components (SO42−, NO3−, NH4+, OC, and elemental carbon) were primarily determined by outdoor pollution. The lower indoor NO3−/SO42− ratio and FINF of NO3− relative to the outdoor values were due to the volatility of NO3−. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) was performed to estimate the sources of PM2.5 using the combined datasets of indoor and outdoor environments and revealed that secondary aerosols, dust, cement production, and coal combustion/metal smelting were the major sources during the sampling period.

    Description: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complicated autoimmune disease. The clinical applications of etanercept (EN), a TNF-α inhibitor, can efficiently halt the development of RA. EN is mainly administrated by subcutaneous injection, which may cause low compliance, side effects, and infection risk. In this study, a hyaluronic acid crosslinked microneedle system (MN) was constructed as the transdermal alternative to deliver EN. We describe the formulation, fabrication, characterization, and transdermal insertion study of MN. In vitro bioactivity of EN was conducted and analyzed by dynamic light scattering and circular dichroism spectrum. In vivo evaluation of MN was studied on adjuvant-induced arthritis mice. The MN possessed sufficient mechanical strength, good biocompatibility, little influence on the bioactivity of EN, and high anti-inflammatory efficacy. This work represents a successful example of delivering macromolecule therapeutic treatment by MN for RA treatment. The transdermal delivery of EN by MN offers a new treatment option for RA patients.

    Description: Social Media Big Data (SMBD) is widely used to serve the economic and social development of human beings. However, as a young research and practice field, the understanding of SMBD in academia is not enough and needs to be supplemented. This paper took Web of Science (WoS) core collection as the data source, and used traditional statistical methods and CiteSpace software to carry out the scientometrics analysis of SMBD, which showed the research status, hotspots and trends in this field. The results showed that: (1) More and more attention has been paid to SMBD research in academia, and the number of journals published has been increased in recent years, mainly in subjects such as Computer Science Engineering and Telecommunications. The results were published primarily in IEEE Access Sustainability and Future Generation Computer Systems the International Journal of eScience and so on; (2) In terms of contributions, China, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries (regions) have published the most papers in SMBD, high-yield institutions also mainly from these countries (regions). There were already some excellent teams in the field, such as the Wanggen Wan team at Shanghai University and Haoran Xie team from City University of Hong Kong; (3) we studied the hotspots of SMBD in recent years, and realized the summary of the frontier of SMBD based on the keywords and co-citation literature, including the deep excavation and construction of social media technology, the reflection and concerns about the rapid development of social media, and the role of SMBD in solving human social development problems. These studies could provide values and references for SMBD researchers to understand the research status, hotspots and trends in this field.

    Description: The photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) into CO and hydrocarbon fuels has been considered as an ideal green technology for solar-to-chemical energy conversion. The separation/transport of photoinduced charge carriers and adsorption/activation of CO2 molecules play crucial roles in photocatalytic activity. Herein, tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (H2TCPP) was incorporated with different metal atoms in the center of a conjugate macrocycle, forming the metalloporphyrins TCPP-M (M = Co, Ni, Cu). The as-obtained metalloporphyrin was loaded as a cocatalyst on commercial titania (P25) to form TCPP-M@P25 (M = Co, Ni, Cu) for enhanced CO2 photoreduction. Among all of the TCPP-M@P25 (M = Co, Ni, Cu), TCPP-Cu@P25 exhibited the highest evolution rates of CO (13.6 μmol⋅g−1⋅h−1) and CH4 (1.0 μmol⋅g−1⋅h−1), which were 35.8 times and 97.0 times those of bare P25, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to the improved photogenerated electron-hole separation efficiency, as well as the increased adsorption/activation sites provided by the metal centers in TCPP-M (M = Co, Ni, Cu). Our study indicates that metalloporphyrin could be used as a high-efficiency cocatalyst to enhance CO2 photoreduction activity.

    Description: Extreme temperature change has generally been the great challenge to spacecraft electronic components, particularly in long, periodic, deep-space exploration missions. Hence, researchers have paid more attention to the reliability of component packaging materials. In this study, the microstructure evolution on the interface of Cu/Ni/Au/Au-12Ge/Au/Ni/Cu joints, as well as the effects of extreme thermal shock on mechanical properties and the fracture mode in the course of extreme thermal changes between −196 and 150 °C, have been investigated. Results revealed that the interface layers comprised of two thin layers of NiGe and Ni5Ge3 compounds after Au-12Ge solder alloy was soldered on the Au/Ni/Cu substrate. After extreme thermal shock tests, the microstructure morphology converted from scallop type to planar one due to the translation from NiGe to Ni5Ge3. Meanwhile, the thickness of interface layer hardly changed. The shear strength of the joints after 300 cycles of extreme thermal shock was 35.1 MPa, which decreased by 19.61%. The fracture location changed from the solder to solder/NiGe interface, and then to the interface of NiGe/Ni5Ge3 IMC layer. Moreover, the fracture type of the joints gradually transformed from ductile fracture mode to brittle mode during thermal shock test. Simultaneously, the formation and extension of defects, such as micro-voids and micro-cracks, were found during the process of thermal shock due to the different thermal expansion coefficient among the solder, interface layer and substrate.

    Description: Pyrite is the most common authigenic mineral preserved in many ancient sedimentary rocks. Pyrite also widely exists in the Longmaxi and Wufeng marine shales in the middle Yangtze area in South China. The Longmaxi and Wufeng shales were mainly discovered with 3 types of pyrites: pyrite framboids, euhedral pyrites and infilled framboids. Euhedral pyrites (Py4) and infilled framboids (Py5) belong to the diagenetic pyrites. Based on the formation mechanism of pyrites, the pyrites could be divided into syngenetic pyrites, early diagenetic pyrites, and late diagenetic pyrites. Under a scanning electron microscope (SEM), the syngenetic pyrites are mostly small framboids composed of small microcrystals, but the diagenetic pyrites are variable in shapes and the diagenetic framboids are variable in sizes with large microcrystals. Due to the deep burial stage, the pore space in the sediment was sharply reduced and the diameter of the late diagenetic framboids that formed in the pore space is similar to the diameter of the syngenetic framboids. However, the diameter of the syngenetic framboid microcrystals is suggested to range mainly from 0.3 µm to 0.4 µm, and that of the diagenetic framboid microcrystals is larger than 0.4 µm in the study area. According to the diameter of the pyrite framboids (D) and the diameter of the framboid microcrystals (d), the pyrite framboids could be divided into 3 sizes: syngenetic framboids (Py1, D 〈 5 µm, d ≤ 0.4 µm), early diagenetic framboids (Py2, D 〉 5 µm, d 〉 0.4 µm) and late diagenetic framboids (Py3, D 〈 5 µm, d 〉 0.4 µm). Additionally, the mean size and standard deviation/skewness values of the populations of pyrite framboids were used to distinguish the paleoredox conditions during the sedimentary stage. In the study area, most of the pyrite framboids are smaller than 5 µm, indicating the sedimentary water body was a euxinic environment. However, pyrite framboids larger than 5 µm in the shales indicated that the sedimentary water body transformed to an oxic-dysoxic environment with relatively low total organic carbon (TOC: 0.4–0.99%). Furthermore, the size of the framboid microcrystals could be used to estimate the gas content due to thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR). The process of TSR occurs with oxidation of organic matter (OM) and depletes the H bond of the OM, which will influence the amount of alkane gas produced from the organic matter during the thermal evolution. Thus, syngenetic pyrites (d ranges from 0.35 µm to 0.37 µm) occupy the main proportion of pyrites in the Wufeng shales with high gas content (1.30–2.30 m3/t), but the Longmaxi shales (d ranges from 0.35 µm to 0.72 µm) with a relatively low gas content (0.07–0.93 m3/t) contain diagenetic pyrites. Because of TSR, the increasing size of the microcrystals may result in an increase in the value of δ13C1 and a decrease in the value of δ13C1-δ13C2. Consequently, the size of pyrite framboids and microcrystals could be widely used for rapid evaluation of the paleoredox conditions and the gas content in shales.

    Description: Sleep and work-family problems attract a great attention in the construction industry because construction professionals are usually prone to work-family conflicts and sleep problems. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of Family-Role Overload (FRO) and Work Interference with Family (WIF) on sleep sufficiency. We also included life satisfaction as a mediator and family supportive supervision behaviors (FSSB) as a moderator. Using a sample of 193 Chinese construction professionals, we collected objectively-measured sleep sufficiency data with validated wrist actigraphies and self-reported sleep sufficiency data, FRO, WIF, life satisfaction and FSSB with questionnaires through multiple waves. Results demonstrated that FRO was negatively associated with both objectively-measured and self-reported sleep sufficiency and life satisfaction played an important mediating role in this relationship. The moderating effect of life satisfaction on the path between WIF and sleep sufficiency is trivial. In addition, no significant moderating effects of FSSB were found. More substantial policies should be taken to improve the life satisfaction and sleep sufficiency of construction professionals.
