Beschreibung: Energies, Vol. 11, Pages 103: Coordinated Control Schemes of Super-Capacitor and Kinetic Energy of DFIG for System Frequency Support Energies doi: 10.3390/en11010103 Authors: Liansong Xiong Yujun Li Yixin Zhu Ping Yang Zhirong Xu This paper mainly focuses on how to provide frequency supports by the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) during system disturbances. Two coordinated controls that enable system frequency supports by DFIG-based wind turbines (WTs) are proposed in this paper. The first control scheme seeks to render system support via simultaneously utilizing the energy from the installed super-capacitor between the back-to-back converter of DFIG, and WT rotational kinetic energy (KE). The second one stabilizes system frequency by firstly exerting the installed super-capacitor energy and then WT rotational KE via a unique cascading control. Both proposed coordinated control schemes jointly utilize two virtual inertia sources, namely super-capacitor in the DFIG and rotor rotational mass in the WT to fast provide system frequency support. However, the second proposed one stands itself out by reducing its impaired impacts on the overall wind energy production. Two proposed controls on rapidly providing frequency support are effectively verified and compared in detail by different system disturbances in the DIgSILENT/Powerfactory software.

Beschreibung: With the open-loop fiber optic gyro (OFOG) model, output voltage and angular velocity can effectively compensate OFOG errors. However, the model cannot reflect the characteristics of OFOG errors well when it comes to pretty large dynamic angular velocities. This paper puts forward a modeling scheme with OFOG output voltage  and temperature  as the input variables and angular velocity error  as the output variable. Firstly, the angular velocity error  is extracted from OFOG output signals, and then the output voltage , temperature  and angular velocity error  are used as the learning samples to train a Radial-Basis-Function (RBF) neural network model. Then the nonlinear mapping model over T,  and  is established and thus  can be calculated automatically to compensate OFOG errors according to  and . The results of the experiments show that the established model can be used to compensate the nonlinear OFOG errors. The maximum, the minimum and the mean square error of OFOG angular velocity are decreased by ,  and  relative to their initial values, respectively. Compared with the direct modeling of gyro angular velocity, which we researched before, the experimental results of the compensating method proposed in this paper are further reduced by ,  and , respectively, so the performance of this method is better than that of the direct modeling for gyro angular velocity.

Beschreibung: Zeolite analcime (EMANA) was synthesized through the hydrothermal method by using carbothermal reduction electrolytic manganese residue (CR-EMR). The structural properties of EMANA and CR-EMR were studied using various characterization techniques. After hydrothermal synthesis, the CR-EMR became super-microporous, and the surface area increased by 4.76 times than before. Among the various synthesized zeolites, 6 h-synthesized EMANA was selected as the best adsorbent for macrolide antibiotics in aqueous solution. The adsorption performance of EMANA on the adsorption capacity was examined by using various experimental parameters, such as contact time (0–24 h), initial concentration (50–300 mg/L), temperature (30–50 °C) and pH (3–13). The experimental results were also analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models, with the latter obtaining better representation. The adsorption process could be described well by the pseudo-second-order model, even under a low concentration (50 mg/L). This result suggests that the adsorption process of macrolide antibiotics is due to chemisorption. According to the Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) results, the adsorption of zeolite was mainly due to its hydroxyl group, which played an important role during the adsorption process. Moreover, EMANA is more suitable for treatment of roxithromycin (ROX) than azithromycin (AZM), because ROX has more adsorption sites for the hydroxyl group.

Beschreibung: In Acropora, the complex canals in a coral colony connect all polyps to a holistic network, enabling them to collaborate in performing biological processes. There are various types of canals, including calice, axial canals, and other internal canals, with structures that are dynamically altered during different coral growth states due to internal calcium transport. In this study, we investigated the morphological changes in the corallite of six Acropora muricata samples by high resolution micro-computed tomography, observing the patterns of calcium carbonate deposition within axial corallite during processes of new branch formation and truncated tip repair. We visualized the formation of a new branch from a calice and the calcium carbonate deposition in the axial canal. Furthermore, the diameter and volume changes of the axial canal in truncated branches during rebuilding processes were calculated, revealing that the volume ratio of calcareous deposits in the axial canal exhibit significant increases within the first three weeks, returning to levels in the initial state in the following week. This work demonstrates that calcium carbonate can be stored temporarily and then remobilized as needed for rapid growth. The results of this study shed light on the control of calcium carbonate deposition and growth of the axial corallite in Acropora.

Beschreibung: The unique thermal history of selective laser melting (SLM) can lead to high residual stress and a non-equilibrium state in as-fabricated titanium alloy components and hinders their extensive use. Post heat treatment, as a classical and effective way, could transform non-equilibrium α’ martensite and achieves desirable mechanical performance in SLMed Ti alloys. In this study, we aimed to establish the correlation between the microstructure and mechanical performances of SLMed Ti6Al4V (Ti-64) by using different heat treatment processes. The columnar prior β grain morphology and grain boundary α phase (GB-α) after different heat treatment processes were characterized, with their influences on the tensile property anisotropy fully investigated. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation of the fracture surface and its cross-sectional analysis found that the tensile properties, especially the ductility, were affected by the GB-α along the β grain boundary. Furthermore, the discontinuous ratio of GB-α was firstly proposed to quantitatively predict the anisotropic ductility in SLMed Ti-64. This study provides a step forward for achieving the mechanical property manipulation of SLMed Ti-64 parts.
