    Description: Members of the plant-specific B3 transcription factor superfamily play important roles in various growth and developmental processes in plants. Even though there are many valuable studies on B3 genes in other species, little is known about the B3 superfamily in tobacco. We identified 114 B3 proteins from tobacco using comparative genome analysis. These proteins were classified into four subfamilies based on their phylogenetic relationships, and include the ARF, RAV, LAV, and REM subfamilies. The chromosomal locations, gene structures, conserved protein motifs, and sub-cellular localizations of the tobacco B3 proteins were analyzed. The patterns of exon-intron numbers and arrangement and the protein structures of the tobacco B3 proteins were in general agreement with their phylogenetic relationships. The expression patterns of 114 B3 genes revealed that many B3 genes show tissue-specific expression. The expression levels of B3 genes in axillary buds after topping showed that the REM genes are mainly up-regulated in response to topping, while the ARF genes are down-regulated after topping.

    Description: Nowadays, micro engine miniaturization is one of the most challenging issues, especially for the design and fabrication of the high-power-density micro Wankel engine. With the decrease of the size of the micro engine, the problem of the heat deformation of the cylinder becomes more serious. In this paper, a micro Wankel engine with microtextures on the outer surface of the cylinder is designed and manufactured to diffuse the heat dissipation and regulate the temperature gradient, so as to increase the power output density. First, a series of finite element simulations are conducted to design a type of ideal surface microtexture. Then, the machining condition is optimized to fabricate microtextures by micro cutting on the cylinder surface by studying the processing parameters. Finally, the performance of the new micro Wankel engine in terms of the temperature gradient regulation and the mechanical power output is tested and compared with that of the un-textured micro engine. The comparison results show that temperature of the textured micro engine was dropped from 185 °C to 125 °C and the mechanical power output increased by 10.74% from that of its un-textured counterpart, verifying the proposed methods for temperature gradient regulation.

    Description: Jointly using spectral and spatial information has become a mainstream strategy in the field of hyperspectral image (HSI) processing, especially for classification. However, due to the existence of noisy or correlated spectral bands in the spectral domain and inhomogeneous pixels in the spatial neighborhood, HSI classification results are often degraded and unsatisfactory. Motivated by the attention mechanism, this paper proposes a spatial–spectral squeeze-and-excitation (SSSE) module to adaptively learn the weights for different spectral bands and for different neighboring pixels. The SSSE structure can suppress or motivate features at a certain position, which can effectively resist noise interference and improve the classification results. Furthermore, we embed several SSSE modules into a residual network architecture and generate an SSSE-based residual network (SSSERN) model for HSI classification. The proposed SSSERN method is compared with several existing deep learning networks on two benchmark hyperspectral data sets. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed network.
