Description: The cyclone separator has attracted increasing attention due to its small size, rapid construction and high separation efficiency. This study investigated its gas-liquid two-phase flow and separation characteristics experimentally and numerically. A numerical model of two- phase flow in the cyclone separator was proposed using the Euler-Lagrange method. The distribution of pressure, tangential and axial velocity in the gas-phase flow field was obtained, and the oil droplet movement was traced. Separation efficiency was also studied experimentally, and the diameter distributions of oil droplets at the inlet and the outlet of the separator were measured by a Malvern laser particle size analyser to verify the simulation model. Based on high-speed photography technology, the oil film distribution and flow pattern on the wall of the cyclone separator were visualised. The variation of oil-gas two-phase flow in the cyclone separator was compared under various inlet flow rates. Based on ...

Description: During the start-up process, the strong instabilities happened at no load operation in a low head axial flow fixed-blade turbine, with strong pressure pulsation and vibration. The rated speed can not reach until guide vane opening to some extent, and stable operation could not be maintained under the rated speed at some head, which had a negative impact on the grid-connected operation of the unit. In order to find the reason of this phenomenon, the unsteady flow field of the whole flow passage at no load conditions was carried out to analyze the detailed fluid field characteristics including the pressure pulsation and force imposed on the runner under three typical heads. The main hydraulic cause of no load conditions instability was described. It is recommended that the power station should try to reduce the no-load running time and go into the high load operation as soon as possible when connected to grid at the rated head. Following the recommendations, the plant operation pr...

Description: In order to improve the efficiency of water turbine and the stability of the unit, numerical simulation is carried out for the draft tube of tubular turbine, The evolution characteristics of the vortex belt under different working conditions and the variation rule of the enstrophy and pressure pulsation are obtained. The results show that the kinetic energy of the fluid is affected by the enstrophy, and the rotation vortex belt is related to the flow energy in the tail water flow path, so the rotation vortex belt is closely related to the enstrophy. With the increase of the draft tube guide vane opening, the vortex belt with obvious changes, when the guide vane opening is large, that is close to the on-cam operating condition, in the center of the tail water flow path shows a whole vortex runner, at that time the tail water energy recovery is the best. The efficiency of water turbine is the best. The trend of vortex energy and pressure pulsations shows the opposite variation, so...

Description: In 0.53 Ga 0.47 As/In 0.52 Al 0.48 As single quantum well (SQW) grown by molecular-beam epitaxy on the InP (001) substrate is investigated by using photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL). At the low temperature of 8 K and excitation intensity of 1 W/cm 2 , the emitting wavelength of QWs shifts from 1387 nm to 1537 nm when the well width increases from 5 nm to 50 nm, approaching the emitting wavelength of bulk In 0.52 Al 0.48 As. The emitting wavelength of QWs can be flexibly tailored by varying the thickness of the InGaAs layer.
