Description: Different evolution patterns of two bubbles may be observed for different values of the phase difference and the inter-bubble distance. Based on potential flow theory, a boundary element method (BEM) is adopted to simulate the interaction between two bubbles and the toroidal bubble after the jet impact is also investigated by placing a vortex ring within the bubble. Meanwhile, some numerical techniques are used to deal with problems like coalescence and collapse. Typical phenomena like coalescence, jet towards and jet away are investigated numerically in this paper. The mechanisms underlying the various phenomena are given through the analysis of the velocity and pressure fields.

Description: When ordinary Portland cement is used for wood fiber cement (WFC) board, the setting time is too long, even hard to solidify. Three methods can be used for wood fiber modification, i.e., soaking in water, treated with alkali solution and coated with some substances on the fiber surface. The results show that the proper water-cement ratio of WFC paste is 1:1.3 in the case of wood cement ratio being 1:1. The WFC board from modified wood fiber and cement is better than the control samples, in which the combined treatment, i.e. soaking in hot water and then coating with alkali-BFS-EVA slurry, behaves best. It is proved that ordinary Portland cement can be used to produce WFC board, with the modified wood fiber, which can greatly reduce production costs.

Description: The acid-modified bentonite was prepared by sulfuric acid acidification, we compared it in chemical composition, layer structure and adsorption performance before and after the adsorption of Cu2+ by joint analysis of FT-IR, XRD, and ICP. The results indicated that: XRD showed that Cu2+ went into the bentonite layer, the analysis of ICP showed: Cu2+ exchange reaction didn’t take place, only coordination reaction occurred, i.e. acid-modified bentonite adsorbs cooper irons mainly in a way of cooperation reaction; the adsorption of acid-modified bentonite conforms to the Langmuir monolayer model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.

Description: With flexible structure and excellent performance, pulsating heat pipes (PHP) are regarded as a great solution to distribute cooling power for cryocoolers. The experiments on PHPs with cryogenic fluids have been carried out, indicating their efficient performances in cryogenics. There are large differences in physical properties between the fluids at room and cryogenic temperature, resulting in their different heat transfer and oscillation characteristics. Up to now, the numerical investigations on cryogenic fluids have rarely been carried out. In this paper, the model of the closed-loop PHP with multiple liquid slugs and vapor plugs is performed with nitrogen and hydrogen as working fluids, respectively. The effects of heating wall temperature on the performance of close-looped PHPs are investigated and compared with that of water PHP.

Description: Using trend coefficient method, vector analysis method, and monitored meteorological data across China, climatic characteristics and spatial pattern of fogs in China were investigated. The results show that most fogs occur in southeastern China. Thin fogs usually occur in fog-rare regions and dense fogs take place in fog-prone regions. The number of annual fog days in most regions of China exhibits a decreasing trend from 1980 to 2010. It also found that the regions with more fog days correspond to the lower concentration degree of fogs, and vice versa. In terms of the national scale, the concentration periods of fogs are mainly in November, December, and January in China. We further classified the occurrence frequencies of fogs into five spatial distribution patterns over a single year according to the spatial distribution characteristics of fogs occurrence frequencies of 36 dekads, namely, a whole year can be correspondingly divided into five phases. Based on this, multi-year ...

Description: To study the instability of a Francis turbine at off-design operating condition, a hydraulic model was established and the flow characteristics at the off-design point were studied based on large eddy simulation (LES). The simulation was conducted for both single phase model and cavitation model. The results were compared with the experimental data. Results show that the simulation based on cavitation model can capture more channel vortex structures than single phase calculation. The result of vortex rope by cavitation model is similar to the experimental result. The dominant frequency can be obtained by these two methods, while the result based on cavitation model can capture the high frequency component at the inlet of draft tube. Great difference can be seen from the internal flow of the two simulation results. These conclusions can provide a basis for the study of instability of Francis turbine.

Description: In order to research screw centrifugal pump impeller power capability and energy conversion mechanism, we used Navier-Stokes equation and standard k-ε equation turbulence model on the basis of the Euler equations to carry out screw centrifugal pump internal flow numerical simulation. This was explored by simulating specific design conditions; the medium is water, variation of speed and pressure of flow filed under the action of the impeller, and the screw centrifugal impeller shroud line and wheel line segment take monitoring sites. The monitoring points are between dynamic head and static head change to analyze the energy conversion capability along the impeller corners of screw centrifugal pump. The results show that the energy of fluid of the screw centrifugal pump is provided by spiral segment, the spiral segment in front of the impeller has played a multi-level role, it has significant reference value to research the energy conversion mechanism of screw centri...

Description: Offshore wind farms promise to become an important source of energy in the near future. The high-rise pile cap foundation is one of the typical foundation types for offshore wind turbine. This paper introduces the structural characteristics and construction technology of high-rise pile cap foundation, aiming at the characteristics of the sea area of Taiwan Strait and combining with engineering examples. The construction technology of high-rise pile cap foundation is expounded emphatically from the manufacture and transportation of steel pipe piles, pile foundation construction and bearing platform construction. Compared with the traditional construction technology, the construction technologies used in this project are safer and more reliable. The construction period of piles cap foundation is shortened by 10 ∼ 48 days. The construction technology provides reference for offshore wind power foundation construction.
