Description: The purpose of this paper was to improve the safety equipment’s effectiveness through the comparison. Firstly, the history and safety accident of London Underground and Beijing Subway were shown. Secondly, fire equipment between these two cities was compared including station’s hardware installations and carriage’s hardware installations. Thirdly, the relative software installations were also compared such as emergency drills. The results showed that Beijing Subway’s hardware installations were better than London. However, London Underground’s some installations were more effective than Beijing. Both cities would pay more attention on anti-terrorist in tunnel.

Description: This article puts forward the time-dependent design method considering the load fluctuation factors for the liner based on the time-varying uncertainty theory. In this method, the time-varying uncertainty design model of liner is constructed by introducing the parameters that affect the wear rate, the volatility and the drift rate. Based on the design example, the timevarying design outline of the moving cone liner is obtained. Based on the theory of minimum wear, the gap curve of wear resistant cavity is designed, and the optimized cavity is obtained by the combination of the thickness of the cone and the cavity gap. Taking the PYGB1821 multi cylinder hydraulic cone crusher as an example, it is proved that the service life of the new liner is improved by more than 14.3%.

Notes: The system of normal equations associated with the discrete Wiener filter is sometimes ill-conditioned. The purpose of this paper is to show that in such cases the solutions obtained vary drastically with the particular choice of an algorithm and of the computer used for its implementation.A review of the basic mathematical theory behind an ill-conditioned matrix is first presented. Numerical examples are then given to illustrate that the solutions of the normal equations are sensitive to the word length of a given computer. Finally, two possible remedies are described: (1) The well-known method of prewhitening and (2) the use of the conjugate-gradient algorithm for solving the normal equations.

Notes: The Wiener prediction filter has been an effective tool for accomplishing dereverberation when the input data are stationary. For non-stationary data, however, the performance of the Wiener filter is often unsatisfactory. This is not surprising since it is derived under the stationarity assumption.Dereverberation of nonstationary seismic data is here accomplished with a difference equation model having time-varying coefficients. These time-varying coefficients are in turn expanded in terms of orthogonal functions. The kernels of these orthogonal functions are then determined according to the adaptive algorithm of Nagumo and Noda.It is demonstrated that the present adaptive predictive deconvolution method, which combines the time-varying difference equation model with the adaptive method of Nagumo and Noda, is a powerful tool for removing both the long- and short-period reverberations. Several examples using both synthetic and field data illustrate the application of adaptive predictive deconvolution. The results of applying the Wiener prediction filter and the adaptive predictive deconvolution on nonstationary data indicate that the adaptive method is much more effective in removing multiples. Furthermore, the criteria for selecting various input parameters are discussed. It has been found that the output trace from the adaptive predictive deconvolution is rather sensitive to some input parameters, and that the prediction distance is by far the most influential parameter.

Notes: One of the problems in signal processing is estimating the impulse response function of an unknown system. The well-known Wiener filter theory has been a powerful method in attacking this problem. In comparison, the use of stochastic approximation method as an adaptive signal processor is relatively new. This adaptive scheme can often be described by a recursive equation in which the estimated impulse response parameters are adjusted according to the gradient of a predetermined error function. This paper illustrates by means of simple examples the application of stochastic approximation method as a single-channel adaptive processor. Under some conditions the expected value of its weight sequence converges to the corresponding Wiener optimum filter when the least-mean-square error criterion is used.

Description: The gas-liquid two-phase flow in pelton turbines is very complicated, there are many kinds of bad-behaved flow in pelton turbines. In this paper, CFD numerical simulation for the pelton turbine was conducted using VOF two-phase model. One kind of bad-behaved flow caused by the two jets was captured, and the bad-behaved flow was analysed by torque on buckets. It can be concluded that the angle between the two jets and the value of ratio of runner diameter and jet diameter are important parameters for the bad-behaved flow. Furthermore, the reason why the efficiency of some multi-jet type turbines is very low can be well explained by the analysis of bad-behaved flow. Finally, some suggestions for improvement were also provided in present paper.

Description: The paper studies the characteristics of runoff which can provide the basis for rational development and utilization of water resources in the Weihe River Basin (WRB). In this paper, sixteen typical hydrological stations in the WRB are selected, including six stations in the mainstream, eight in the south bank and two in the north bank of WRB. The ArcGIS and the Hawth’s Analysis Tools are used to calculate the fractal dimensions of the hydrological stations. The variations of annual and monthly runoff for stations are investigated using the fractal dimension during 1956-2015 in the WRB. The differences of fractal dimensions between the mainstream and the main tributaries located at the south bank and the north bank are compared. The results show that the runoff fractal dimension varies for different stations and months. In the WRB, the maximum monthly runoff fractal dimensions of stations are mainly in the flood season (June to October) and the minimum are mainly in the dry seas...

Description: Drilling is inevitable for CFRP components’ assembling process in the aviation industry. The exit damage frequently occurs and affects the load carrying capacity of components. Consequently, it is of great urgency to enhance drilling exit quality on CFRP components. The article aims to guide the reasonable choice of drill helical direction and effectively reduce exit damage. Exit observation experiments are carried out with left-hand helical, right-hand helical and straight one-shot drill drilling T800S CFRP laminates separately. The development rules of exit damage and delamination factor curves are obtained. Combined with loading conditions and fracture modes of push-out burrs, and thrust force curves, the influence of drill helical direction on exit damage development is derived. It is found that the main fracture modes for left-hand helical, right-hand helical, and straight one-shot drill are mode I, extrusive fracture, mode III respectively. Among them, mode III has the lea...
