Description: In this paper, we reported the oxidation behaviour of Ti 2 AlN coatings on a -TiAl substrate. The coatings composed mainly of Ti 2 AlN MAX phase were obtained by magnetron sputtering and subsequent vacuum annealing. Isothermal oxidation tests at 700-900 °C were performed in air. The results indicated that the oxidation resistance of the -TiAl alloy can be improved by depositing a Ti 2 AlN layer on the alloy surface, especially at high temperatures. An Al-rich oxide scale formed on the coating surfaces during oxidation. This scale acts as diffusion barrier blocking the ingress of oxidation, and effectively protects the coated alloys from further oxidation attack.

Description: Phytoplankton size class variation is a good indicator of water dynamics changes, alga blooms or ecosystem change, for it usually corresponds to different phytoplankton group composition. Remote sensing technique is a very effective method for studying phytoplankton at large scale by virtue of synoptic view and large area cover. Here we detected seasonal and annual phytoplankton size class variation using remote sensing data based on a bio-optical algorithm in northern South China Sea. Result showed that the phytoplankton size class turned to be smaller during summer time, because of the stability of the water body and lack of nutrients. While in winter, the north-east monsoon made the water dynamics become complex. Upwellings, mesoscale eddy, typhoon and a series of drifts bring underwater nutrients up to the sea surface. As a result, phytoplankton with bigger cell size began to grow and the cell size turned to be bigger. The fraction of micro-phytolankton changed from 7% to 10...

Description: The screw centrifugal pump is used as an object, and the unsteady numerical simulation of solid-liquid two-phase flow is carried out under different flow rate conditions in one circle by choosing the two-phase flow of sand and water as medium, using the software FLUENT based on the URANS equations, combining with sliding mesh method, and choosing the Mixture multiphase flow model and the SIMPLE algorithm. The results show that, with the flow rate increasing, the change trends for the pressure on volute outlet are almost constant, the fluctuation trends of the impeller axial force have a little change, the pressure and the axial force turn to decrease on the whole, the radial force gradually increases when the impeller maximum radius passes by half a cycle near the volute outlet, and the radial force gradually decreases when the maximum radius passes by the other half a cycle in a rotation cycle. The distributions of the solid particles are very uneven under a small flow rate con...

Description: This paper introduces the current research situation of pump efficiency, especially in pumping low viscosity fluids. Then we propose a simple and widely used efficiency model for the pump which just depends on the suction, discharge and leakage resistance coefficient. An experimental test rig is setup. After evaluating the efficiency of the pump in different conditions, it is found that the performance is quite different when pumping different medium. A phenomenon has been observed which results of the appearance of the BEP (best efficiency point), and our efficiency model can explain these testing phenomena very well.
