Description: In this paper, the focus is on studying the performance of complex systems in a supply chain context by developing a structured modelling approach based on the methodology ASDI (Analysis, Specification, Design and Implementation) by combining the modelling by Petri nets and simulation using ARENA. The linear approach typically followed in conducting of this kind of problems has to cope with a difficulty of modelling due to the complexity and the number of parameters of concern. Therefore, the approach used in this work is able to structure modelling a way to cover all aspects of the performance study. The modelling structured approach is first introduced before being applied to the case of an industrial system in the field of phosphate. Results of the performance indicators obtained from the models developed, permitted to test the behaviour and fluctuations of this system and to develop improved models of the current situation. In addition, in this paper, it was shown how Arena ...

Description: Urolithiasis is defined as the result of an abnormal precipitation within the urinary tract. This precipitation is most often from the normal constituents of the urine. This is a fairly common condition in the population. She is happy and recurrent etiology is often unknown if hypothetical. In Algeria, as in many countries, a large number of patients use herbal medicines in the treatment of their diseases including urolithiasis. Thus the aim of this study is the most widely used to evaluate the effectiveness of aqueous extracts of medicinal plants, in the treatment of calcium urolithiasis oxalo-and magnesium-amoniaco in vitro. The study also examines the effect of these extracts on the states of crystallization (nucleation, crystal growth, crystal aggregation), followed by photography on polarized light microscope. In this regard, we are devoted to studying the crystallization steps from oxalo-calcium and phospho-calcic prepared as artificial urine and supersaturated aqueous solut...

Description: The thermal efficiency of a flat plate solar thermal collector is largely affected by the thermal conductivity of the fluid used. In this paper, we theoretically analyzed the heat transfer performance, the entropy generation rate, and the exergy efficiency of the two different graphene based nanofluids (graphene/Acetone and graphene/water). From the analyses, it is revealed that by inserting a small amount of graphene nanoparticles in water, exergy efficiency could be enhanced by 21%, comparing to conventional fluids and entropy generation is decreased by 4%. However, the graphene/water nanofluid shows a lower entropy generation. This characteristic suggests that graphene/water nanofluid is a better candidate for flat solar thermal application.

Description: This study is interested on the modelling of the logistics flows in a supply chain composed on a production sites and a logistics platform. The contribution of this research is to develop an analytical model (integrated linear programming model), based on a case study of a real company operating in the phosphate field, considering a various constraints in this supply chain to resolve the planning problems for a better decision-making. The objectives of this model is to determine and define the optimal quantities of different products to route, to and from the various entities in the supply chain studied.

Description: Electrospinning polymer has been acknowledged as an effective technique for the fabrication of polymer nanofiber. In recent years many polymers have been successfully electrospun into thin smooth uniform fibers. In this study, the effect of various process parameters on the morphology and diameter of fibers obtained from a solution of PET in Trifluoracetic acid and Dichloromethane in (1:3) ratio were illustrated. The selected factors that were to be controlled for this experiment are the concentration of PET in the solution, flow rate, applied voltage, and needle-tip to the collector distance. L9Orthogonal arrays of Taguchi design, S/N ratio and analyses of variance ANOVA are used to arrange the number of trials, analyses and observe the optimum conditions for the fabrication of PET. For this, the best level of the factors was determined as PET concentration (5%), flow rate (1ml/h), voltage (15 Kv) and distance (15 cm) in order to obtain small fiber in diameter.

Description: The wide-ranging evolution of remote sensing technology has offered a promising application to the hydrographic surveying, the Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB). SDB is a contemporary acquisition technique which derives bathymetric data from multispectral satellite imagery for various hydrographic purposes. The introduction and availability of the chargeless Sentinel-2A multispectral satellite data in the region, has inspired the National Hydrographic Centre (NHC) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to collaborate in assessing the level of accuracy provided by Sentinel-2A imageries as a data sources for shallow water hydrographic mapping. The assessment is concentrating on both empirical algorithm methods, Lyzenga and Stumpf models in two different seabed topology conditions. Both Lyzenga and Stumpf model produced almost identical results for the area with normal gradient seabed. Conversely, for the rough and irregular seabed surface, results from Lyzenga model was much bet...

Description: Composites made using carbon fibre textile reinforcement give an anisotropic material with directional mechanical properties that are dependent on the fabric architecture. The directional properties of a 2D textile are primarily based on weave pattern: The direction of warp and weft yarns, undulation of the tows, and the change in fibre orientation during dry fabric forming process. During dry fabric forming processes, shear is the dominant deformation mechanism as the 2D fabric conforms to 3D shapes. As the fabric changes its shape to match that of the tool, the fibres rotate away from the orthogonal axes as a function of the shear angle. The modified fibre orientation is carried through the curing process and ends up in the finished composite component. This has an influence on the mechanical properties of a cured composite in localised regions of high deformation. Currently the effect of shear during fabric forming is not usually taken into account when modelling the p...

Description: This paper presents a study on the rheological and mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) with recycled steel fibers recovered (SFR) from waste tires. SFR were added separately to SCC mixtures at volume fraction of 0.5, 0.8, 1 and 1.5%. Water to cement ratio of 0.46, gravel to sand ratio of 1.0 and superplasticizer content of 1.0% (by weight of cement) were kept constant in the all SCC mixtures. Five SCC mixtures were tested for their rheological properties by using slump flow diameter, T500 slump flow time, V-funnel flow time, L-box ratio, and the segregation resistance test. The 28-day compressive strength, flexural strength and shrinkage were also investigated. The results showed that adding recycled steel tires fibers reduced the rheological characteristics of the self-compacting concrete. It was also revealed that, increasing the content of recycled steel fibers reduced slightly the compressive strength and shrinkage but improves flexural strength.

Description: Some of the factors that causing abuse of alcohol by adolescents are the descendants, families influences, friends influence, ethnicities, and personal issues. Today’s teenage problems are complex and worrying. This is indicated by the low knowledge of adolescents about the dangers of alcohol for health. The importance of knowledge about the danger of alcohol for health is needed. Therefore, adolescents need to get enough information to know how dangerous alcohol. Peer group is a method of delivering information through peers that effective to use in adolescents. The study aims to determine the effect of health education with peer group approach toward adolescents’ knowledge about the dangers of alcohol for health in the village of Wungkolo, District of South Wawonii, Konawe Islands. The study did not use the Pre-Experiment with the control group. The sampling technique is purposive sampling , with 17 people as the samples. The results of statistical test pair t-test obtai...

Description: Studies have shown that many Malaysian non-technical students have low motivation in learning ICT course due to a number of reasons, such as a lack of learning practice and effective learning applications. In view of such a problem, the researchers carried out a quasi-experimental study to examine the impact of a novel mobile augmented reality learning application (MARLA) on students’ motivation in learning a topic of a university ICT course. The research was based on the pretest-posttest control group design, and the study sample consisted of 120 non-technical undergraduates majoring in social science, with a mean age of 19.5 years. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The dependent variable was students’ motivation in learning, and the independent variables were learning method and gender. The experimental group used MARLA on their mobile devices to learn one of the topics of the ICT Competency course, namely Computer System; whereas the control gr...
