Description: This paper investigates the orbital stability of solitary waves for the generalized symmetric regularized-long-wave equations with two nonlinear terms and analyzes the influence of the interaction between two nonlinear terms on the orbital stability. Since is not onto, Grillakis-Shatah-Strauss theory cannot be applied on the system directly. We overcome this difficulty and obtain the general conclusion on orbital stability of solitary waves in this paper. Then, according to two exact solitary waves of the equations, we deduce the explicit expression of discrimination and give several sufficient conditions which can be used to judge the orbital stability and instability for the two solitary waves. Furthermore, we analyze the influence of the interaction between two nonlinear terms of the equations on the wave speed interval which makes the solitary waves stable.

Description: Based on the results of the width of channel regulation on the field observations and indoor experiments, a new model of the width of channel regulation on hydraulic geometry relation was proposed and its coefficients were determined in theory in terms of the principle of dimensional analysis and multiple linear regression method in this paper. Considering the action of channel width, average flow velocity, average water depth and the slope of bed river, the median grain size was introduced. Through field data were verified well, and flow gradient formulas and hydraulic formulas results were compared with more consistent ones, and it was shown that this model could better reflect relatively stable riverbed. Moreover, the established expression not only was simple and explicit, but also better laid a good theoretical basis for waterway project design. Last, taking the waterway regulation project which was from Shaoguan to Qingyuan for calculation, the results showed that new calculation method was feasible and it could be a useful reference for the design of waterway regulation.

Description: Supply-demand matching is critical for the increase of response speed, the improvement of resource utilization, and the building of long-term partnership. This study will contribute to the present supply-demand matching studies by (1) summarizing the dynamic broker dominant supply-demand matching problem (B-SDMP), (2) proposing the dynamic broker dominant supply-demand matching approach, inclusive of (a) the building of the distributed constraint satisfaction model based on the dynamic negotiation among agents and (b) the design of an asynchronous backtracking algorithm according to interaction among agents, and (3) the design and development of a multiagent dynamic supply-demand matching system. To verify the validity and usability of the method, the system test and case simulation are conducted. The matching solutions yielded from this B-SDMP analysis can help the buyers find the appropriate sellers on one commodity/service under dynamic environment and stimulate the building of long-term partnership among the sellers, buyers, and broker as a stable supply chain.

Description: In social networks, the age and the region of individuals are the two most important factors in modeling infectious diseases. In this paper, a spatial susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) model is proposed to describe epidemic spreading over a network with region and age by establishing several partial differential equations. Numerical simulations are performed, and the simulation of the proposed model agrees well with real influenza-like illness (ILI) in the USA reported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Moreover, the proposed model can be used to predict the infected density of individuals. The results show that our model can be used as a tool to analyze influenza cases in the real world.

Description: For deep-water faulted sandstone reservoirs, the general practice is to design long horizontal wells improving well productivity. During the project implementation stage, well tests are performed on all drilled wells to evaluate well productivity accurately. Furthermore, multisize chokes are often utilized in a shorten test time for loosen formation, high test cost, and high well productivity. Nevertheless, the conventional productivity evaluation approach cannot accurately evaluate the well test productivity and has difficulty in determining the underneath pattern. As a result, the objective of this paper is to determine a productivity evaluation method for multisize chokes long horizontal well test in deep-water faulted sandstone reservoir. This approach introduces a productivity model for long horizontal wells in faulted sandstone reservoir. It also includes the determination of steady-state test time and the productivity evaluation method for multisize chokes. In this paper, the EGINA Oilfield, a deep-water faulted sandstone reservoir, located in West Africa was chosen as the research target. Based on Renard and Dupuy’s steady-state equation, the relationship between the productivity index per meter and the length of horizontal section was derived. Consequently, this relationship is used to determine the productivity pattern for long horizontal wells with the same geological features, which can provide more accurate productivity evaluations for tested wells and forecast the well productivity for untested wells. After implementing this approach on the EGINA Oilfield, the determined relationship is capable to accurately evaluate the test productivity for long horizontal wells in reservoirs with similar characteristics and assist in examination and treatment for horizontal wells with abnormal productivity.

Description: Much research has been conducted on physical and numerical modeling that focus on stress state and structural controls on subsurface geofluid flow, yet very few attempts have been made to discover and quantify the mineral precipitation/dissolution kinetics in complex fracture system such as Tarim Basin of China. We conducted a geochemical simulation study using the outcrop fracture networks in Ordovician carbonate rocks in Tabei Outcrop Area of Tarim Basin. Structural analysis, filling analysis within the fracture networks and surrounding rocks were used to constrain the generation and geochemical evolution of the geofluids. Using an advanced reactive transport simulation platform TOUGHREACT, a pertinent thermodynamic system was applied to establish the geological model of the fracture-surrounding rock, where the corresponding calcium carbonate (CaCO3) solution was configured to replace the deep saturated hydrothermal fluids. Different types of mineral parameters were considered with material balance and phase equilibrium calculation to perform numerical simulation of multi-field, e.g., pressure field, temperature field, seepage field and chemical field under formation conditions. The simulation results were consistent with field observations. The major findings of this simulation study include: (1) Along with fluid injection, local dissolution occurred within the fractures and matrix, but with the gradual saturation of calcium ions and the increasing pH value, considerable calcite precipitation occurred. (2) The dissolution/precipitation in different fractures was mainly affected by their structure and physical properties, resulting in changes in fluid flow rate, temperature, pressure and ion concentration over time. (3) In the same group, the degree of mineral filling of small-aperture fractures, low-angle fractures and shallow fractures was significantly higher than other types of fractures. (4) The better the connectivity between reticular fractures and the higher the linear density of fractures, the lower the mineral filling degree. (5) Dissolution phenomenon strengthened within large-aperture conjugated fractures gradually along the flow direction. The proposed methodologies in this study can be applied to model effective fracture filling of other deep reservoirs.

Description: Based on the daily temperature data from 26 meteorological stations in the Minjiang River Basin, for 1961 to 2016, the temporal trend and spatial distribution of extreme temperature in this region were analyzed using 16 extreme temperature indices. The results show that in terms of time variation, determined using linear trend analysis and a Mann–Kendall trend test, the warm and day indices mainly show an upward trend while the cold and night indices mainly show a downward trend in the entire basin. Among them, FD0, TN10, and CSDI significantly decrease at −1.3, −2.9, and −1.1 d/10a, respectively. TN90, TX90, SU25, and TR20 significantly increase at 3.0, 2.6, 2.1, and 2.2 d/10a, respectively. The crop growth period in the basin showed a significant increasing trend at 1.4 days/decade, while the diurnal temperature range showed a nonsignificant increasing trend at 0.03 days/decade. On comparing the change range of each index, it was found that the change range of the warm index is greater than that of the cold index, while the change range of the day index is smaller than that of the night index; thus, the change trends of the maximum and minimum temperatures in the whole basin are not obvious. Analysis of the changing trend at each station showed that the relative index of the extreme temperature in the basin has good climatic consistency in terms of spatial distribution. The distributions of the absolute and extreme indices are not uniform, which is consistent with the change in elevation in the basin. Further, the diurnal temperature range in the upper reaches of the basin is greater than that in the middle and lower reaches. However, because of the more obvious upward trends of the day and warm indices in the middle and lower reaches, and the more obvious downward trends of the night and cold indices in the upper reaches, the daily temperature differences in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Minjiang River Basin tend to be consistent. Therefore, the precipitation in the Minjiang River Basin shows a significant decreasing trend; thus, the basin shows a trend of drying and warming.

Description: Hubs are critical facilities in the power projection network. Due to the uncertainty factors such as terrorism threats, severe weather, and natural disasters, hub facilities may be disrupted randomly, which could lead to excessive cost or loss in practice. One of the most effective ways to withstand and reduce the impact of disruptions is designing more resilient networks. In this paper, a stochastic programming model is employed for the hub location problem in the presence of random hub failures. A heuristic algorithm based on Monte Carlo method and tabu search is put forward to solve the model. The proposed approach is more general if there are numbers of hubs that would fail even with different failure probability. Compared with the benchmark model, the model which takes the factor of stochastic failure of hubs into account can give a more resilient power projection network.

Description: The increasing complexity of large-scale real-world programs necessitates the automation of software testing. As a basic problem in software testing, the automation of path-wise test data generation is especially important, which is in essence a constraint optimization problem solved by search strategies. Therefore, the constraint processing efficiency of the selected search algorithm is a key factor. Aiming at the increase of search efficiency, a hybrid intelligent algorithm is proposed to efficiently search the solution space of potential test data by making full use of both global and local search methods. Branch and bound is adopted for global search, which gives definite results with relatively less cost. In the search procedure for each variable, hill climbing is adopted for local search, which is enhanced with the initial values selected heuristically based on the monotonicity analysis of branching conditions. They are highly integrated by an efficient ordering method and the backtracking operation. In order to facilitate the search methods, the solution space is represented as state space. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperformed some other methods used in test data generation. The heuristic initial value selection strategy improves the search efficiency greatly and makes the search basically backtrack-free. The results also demonstrate that the proposed method is applicable in engineering.

Description: This paper is concerned with the adaptive tracking control design for a class of uncertain switched systems subject to input delay. Unlike the existing results on uncertain switched systems, the new proposed control scheme ensures that the tracking error converges to the accuracy given a priori according to the requirement. To achieve this aim, some nonnegative switching functions are introduced to replace the conventional Lyapunov function. In addition, neural networks are used to approximate the unknown simultaneous domination functions. By combining the backstepping technique and some common nonnegative switching functions, a stable adaptive neural controller is established. It can be shown that the closed-loop system is semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB) and the tracking error satisfies the predefined accuracy. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified by a simulation example.
