Notes:
An extensive series of field trials with benomyl against apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) and powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha) confirmed the excellent control of both diseases achieved with regular schedules of treatment from bud-burst to early July. An extended schedule of monthly sprays only shghtly reduced its efficiency against scab, although its activity against mildew was distinctly inferior when the intervals were increased in this manner. Benomyl also causes an apparent stimulation of vegetative growth. There are also indications of increased yields from such treatments without any adverse effect on fruit finish.
