Notes: We prepare hysteresis model that reproduces smooth hysteresis curves including minor loops from several experimental hysteresis loops. In this model, the distribution of susceptibility on the M-H plane obtained from the experimental hysteresis loops is used. The hysteresis loop in the demagnetizing process is computed with this model, and found to converge on the original point of the M-H coordinates. The computed hysteresis curves including minor loops agree well with the experimental results. In addition, the present hysteresis model is used for a numerical analysis of magnetic fields with the spatial network method. In this simulation, the magnetization and magnetic fields inside and outside an infinite magnetic cylinder in an external pulse field are obtained. The results are in fair agreement with theoretical results.

Notes: The interface disorder in quantum wells (QW's) grown by molecular beam epitaxy on 0.5°-misoriented (111)B GaAs substrates was characterized by low-temperature photoluminescence and by transmission electron microscopy. It was found that the abruptness of the heterointerface of (111)B QW's is as sharp as that of (100) QW's. The effect of growth interruption at a high substrate temperature of 720 °C on the interface disorder was also studied and was found to be detrimental.

Description: Two coaxial pellets with tungsten inserted into graphite carbon and polyethylene (PE) tubes are compared for tungsten spectroscopic study in the Large Helical Device. The tungsten pellet with carbon tube causes plasma collapse, while that with PE tube smoothly ablates without collapse. The deposition profile of the pellets is analyzed with a help of pellet ablation spectroscopy. It is found that the tungsten pellet with carbon tube can significantly penetrate into the core plasma and leads to the plasma collapse. A tungsten spectrum with radial profile is successfully observed when the tungsten pellet with PE tube is used.
