Notes: [Auszug] Of forty-five specimens collected from different parts of Calcutta and examined, thirty-six adult insects and nymphs harboured in their guts a large number of trypanosomes in various stages of development. For the purpose of observation each insect was treated in the following manner. The entire ...

Notes: Zusammenfassung 1.

Notes: Abstracts The effect of the solubility of insoluble silver chromates in the formation of Liesegang rings has been studied as this insoluble salt shows a marked yariation in its solubility with the change in hydrogen ion concentration. The Liesegang rings are less closely packed as the solubility of silver chromate is increased with the increasing acidity of the medium. Rings become more distinct as the chromate solutions used are diluted or the concentrated solution of silver nitrate diffusing from the top is diluted. There should be considerable difference in the concentrations of the two interacting solutions, the one diffusing from the top being always concentrated. Concentrations of the interacting solutions, suited for well defined rings in the gelatin medium, have been determined.

Notes: Abstracts The colloidal behaviour of silver chromate in producing periodic precipitation, specially in agar agar medium, has been studied. Silver chromate does not form any stable colloidal solution in agar agar sol but it has been observed by us that its colloidal solution may be obtained in the presence of sodium citrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, aluminium nitrate and thorium nitrate solutions. Further, Liesegang rings of silver chromate in agar agar gel are formed in the presence of these salts. Liesegang rings of silver chromate are also observed in the agar agar medium in presence of hydrogen ions, when chromic acid is taken in the gel in place of a chromate or dichromate solution. Thus in the formation of Liesegang rings of silver chromate, the formation of a colloid easily coagulable by the diffusing ions or an increased solubility are the important factors.
