Notes:
Summary 1. 2-Propyl-, 2-isopropyl-, and 2-tert-butyl-1,3-butadlenes were condensed with acrylic, methacrylic, and 2-isopropylacrylic esters, and the relative amounts of the structurally isomeric adducts formed were determined. 2. With increase in the size of the alkyl substltuents in the diene and the dlenophlle, the proportion of meta isomer in the mixture of adducts diminishes. 3. The results are to be explained by the increase in the sterlc hindrance to the formation of the meta isomer as the substituents increase in size.
