Notes:
Summary 1. The introduction of acetyl and p-nitrophenyl groups into the ferrocene nucleus greatly reduces the ability of hydrogens of the ferrocene nucleus to undergo aromatic-substitution reactions (arylation with diazo compounds, mercuration, and acylation). 2. Reaction of diacetylferrocene with diazo compounds leads to breakdown of the ferrocene nucleus and formation of substances considered tentatively to be acetyl(arylazo)cyclopentadienes.
