Notes: Abstract Various methods of separating technetium from molybdenum anhydride irradiated with thermal neutrons in a nuclear reactor have been investigated. A method has been devised and tested In laboratory conditions for the concentration and separation of technetium, based on the co-precipitation of technetium with difficultly soluble phosphates and on Chromatographic purification. Milligram quantities of Tc99 have been obtained by this method. The separated technetium has been identified by means of spectrum analysis, and the absolute activity and maximum energy of its ß -radiations have also been measured. Some chemical properties of technetium have been studied.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Far reaching conclusions regarding the structure of the molecule can be drawn from the measurement of the intensity coefficients of characteristic vibration lines. It is shown that coupling of multiple bonds, disturbance of the planar structure, etc., has a decisive effect on the intensity coefficients of a characteristic line in many cases. The experimental finding concerning the relation between the intensity of the Raman lines and the exciting frequency are in satisfactory agreement with the results of a theoretical study of this point. The Raman effect was studied in the region of the first absorption band and it was proved that a particular effect which might be termed as resonance-Raman effect, is present here.
