Notes: Summary Luteinizing hormone (LH) content was studied in the hypophysis of female rats with permanent estrus occurring both spontaneously or caused by electrolytic hypothalamic injury. To determine the LH content, suspensions of hypophyses, examined individually, were administered to infantile female rats to which folliculostimulating hormone prepared of the blood serum of a pregnant mare (PMS) had been administered. This reaction was assessed by the number of ovulating recipients and by the average number of ova in the oviducts. In females with a permanent estrus, both spontaneous and caused by hypothalamic injury, the LH content in hypophysis was much greater than in the animals with a normal cycle during the estrus.

Notes: Summary In dissolving the homologous (tumor antigen-antitumor antibody) and heterologous (tumor antigen-antierythrocytic antibody) in the normal rabbit serum there is dissociation into the solution of antibodies which manifest their serological activity in the complement fixation reaction. Dissociated antibodies also retain their biological (cytotoxic) properties manifested in the growth depression of experimental cultures of tumor and homologous normal tissues and cellular destruction in the growth zone. Antibodies dissociated from the homologous precipitate react more intensely in the complement fixation reaction with the antigens from the corresponding tumor tissue and much less with the antigens from the normal tissues and erythrocytes. In the tissue cultures these antibodies manifest some degree of specificity; they depress the culture growth of tumor tissues, and to a much lesser extent the growth of the cultures of homologous normal tissue; they do not a ffect the growth of the kidney tissue culture of newborn animals. The antibodies dissociated from the heterologous precipitate react more with the antigens from erythrocytes, and much less with the antigens from the tumors and normal tissues. The greatest depressive effect is produced by these antibodies on the growth of experimental cultures of the tumor tissues; the least on the growth of the kidney tissue culture.

Notes: Summary As demonstrated by the previous communication, administration of acid aqueous extract from hypothalamus or suspension of the posterior hypophyseal lobe to female rats whose ovaries had mature follicles, resulted in ovulation (Kabak and Sokolova, 1962). The paper presents the results of further investigations in which the same preparations of the posterior hypophyseal lobe or hypothalamus were administered during the first two days after hypophysectomy. Experiments were staged on infantile female rats which received gonadotropin from the pregnant mare serum to stimulate the preovulation growth of the follicles. In contrast with the females with intact hypophysis no ovulation was caused in hypophysectomized female rats either by hypothalamic extract, or by a posterior hypophysis lobe suspension. These data demonstrate that the hypothalamus and the posterior hypophysis lobe contain one or several substances stimulating the luteinizing hormone secretion by the anterior hypophysis lobe.

Notes: Summary Sera of rabbits, immunized with water-salt extract from the tissue of Guerin's carcinoma and normal rat erythrocytes, react with the antigens of the tumor tissue, the uterus; kidney, and erythrocytes. This points to the presence of a common antigen in these tissues and erythrocytes. It is possible to extract (to a considerable extent) antigens common to the erythrocyte antigens from the water-salt extract of tumor tissue by means of antierythrocytic serum in the presence of the guinea pig serum complement. Antigens, common to the tissue of a homologous normal organ (uterus), are retained in such an exhausted extract. These data show that at least two types of antigens are present in the tumor tissue (along with other antigens) i.e., species and tissue ones. The commoness of antigenic properties of Guerin's carcinoma, normal uterus, kidney tissue, and erythrocytes were also demonstrated by the tissue culture method.

Notes: Summary A complete inhibition of the tumor growth (100%) is observed following transplantation of the skin in rabbits 8 days before inoculation of Brown-Pearce metastasis of tumors following simultaneous skin transplantation and inoculation of Brown-Pearce carcinoma. Transplantation of the skin 8 days after tumor inoculation caused intensified growth of Brown-Pearce carcinoma, manifested in the greater percentage of positive takes and a more vigorous metastasization.

Notes: Summary 1. When formylferrocene reacts with RMgX, then when R=CH3, C6H5, and CH2C2H5 secondary alcohols are formed, and when R=C2H5 and n-C4H9 ethers are formed. 2. With Grignard reagents derived from halogen compounds that already contain silicon formyl-, acetyl-, and benzoyl-ferrocenes form alcohols in high yields.
