Zusammenfassung Die durch Jodidionen katalysierte Tetrabasenoxydation mit Chloramin T zu blauen Farbbasen wurde durch Zusatz einer Chloroform/Eisessig/Mischung stabilisiert und automationsgerecht gemacht. 0,001 N Natriumthiosulfatlösung wird als Reduktionsmittel bis zur Entfärbung zugegeben, wobei die Verbrauche über mehr als 9 Zehnerpotenzen dem Logarithmus der Jodidionenkonzentration proportional sind. So können durch große Verdünnung praktisch alle Störeffekte ausgeschaltet werden. Das Verfahren wurde zum Nachweis und zur genauen Bestimmung kleinster Jodidmengen in Wässern (bis 10−14 g J−/l) sowie einiger Salze (bis 10−12% J−) angewandt. Wegen seiner hohen Empfindlichkeit können auch Löslichkeitsprodukte schwer löslicher anorganischer und organischer Jodverbindungen bestimmt werden.

Abstract The oxidation of tetrabase with chloramine T catalyzed by iodide ions and resulting in blue dye bases has been stabilized by addition of a mixture of chloroform and glacial acetic acid and made suitable for automation. 0.001 N Sodium thiosulphate solution is added as reducing agent till the colour has disappeared. The volume of the reagent consumed is proportional to the logarithm of the iodide concentration over more than 9 powers of ten. Thus, almost all interfering effects can be eliminated by dilution. The method has been employed for the detection and determination of very small amounts of iodide in waters (down to 10−14 g I−/l) and some salts (down to 10−12%I−). Because of the high sensitivity of the procedure also solubility products of sparingly soluble inorganic and organic iodine compounds may be determined.
