Description / Table of Contents: Tetramethyl titanium yields definite 1:1 complexes with 2,2′-bipyridyl, 1, 10-phenanthroline, N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylene diamine, P,P,P′,P′-tetramethylethylene diphosphine and 1,4-dioxane. The preparation and the most important properties of these red or yellow, thermally rather stable compounds are described.

Description / Table of Contents: Tetramethyltitanium forms with pyridine, trimethylamine and trimethylphosphine yellow or red 1:1 and 1:2 donor-acceptor complexes. All these compounds are very sensitive to heat treatment but more stable than pure tetramethyltitanium. The nature of the bonding between tetramethyltitanium and the ligand molecules is discussed.
