Notes:
Summary A clinical description is given of a girl at 29 months of age with signs of an abortive Pätau's syndrome. Cultures of peripheral leucocytes revealed 47 chromosomes in all the cells with an extra chromosome corresponding in shape to the autosomes 21–22. The phenotypically normal mother and sister have a normal chromosome complement. The clinical findings suggest that the extra chromosome represents a deleted chromosome D1. The clinical features of the partial trisomy D1 in comparison with Pätau's syndrome and the aetiology of the chromosomal aberration are discussed.
