The viscosity of molten thallium(I) chloride (440-780°C) has been determined by means of the hollow-body torsion method. The temperature dependence of viscosity follows the equation η = A · exp (Eη/RT) with Eη = 3.4 kcal/mole and A = 0.173cP. A comparison of these data, and those of other viscosity measurements, with data from self-diffusion measurements reveal that in both cases the same transport mechanism is valid.

Die Bestimmung der Viskosität des geschmolzenen Thallium(I)-chlorids nach der Hohlkörpertorsionsmethode im Temperaturbereich von 440-780°C wird beschrieben. Die Temperaturabhängigkeit der Viskosität η wird durch die Gleichung η = A · exp (Eη/RT) wiedergegeben, mit Eη = 3,4 kcal/mol und A = 0,173 cP. Ein Vergleich von Werten aus diesen und anderen Viskositätsmessungen mit solchen aus Selbstdiffusionsuntersuchungen anderer Autoren zeigt, daß in beiden Fällen der gleiche Transportmechanismus vorliegt.
