Notes: Abstract In order to compare primitive recursive functions and transductions defined by automata in a natural way independent of encodings, we generalize the Grzegorczyk hierarchy, the recursion number hierarchy and the loop hierarchy from arithmetical to wordfunctions. We observe several differences between the arithmetical and the non-arithmetical theory. By means of turingmachines and generalized sequential machines all inclusion problems for the function classes of these hierarchies are solved. Transductions and languages defined by automata are classified within these hierarchies. Moreover, we introduce and study primitive recursive transformations between different monoids.

Notes: [Auszug] Five new double-mutant haemoglobins composed of βs chains and α chains with different substitutions, which are located at the surface of the tetramer, have been prepared. Although all the hybrids are more soluble than deoxyhaemoglobin S, the individual differences between ...

Notes: Abstract The morphology and chemical analysis of the complex phases present in cast nickel aluminium bronze, of nominal composition 10% aluminium, 5% nickel and 5% iron, have been investigated using optical and electron microscopy techniques and energy dispersive analysis. It has been shown that α, β and four forms of κ can exist in the ascast microstructure of this alloy. Heat treatment can lead to the precipitation of a further κ phase which differs in morphology and chemical composition to those present in ascast structures.

Notes: Abstract A new hemoglobin variant found in a mother and her child was characterized by column chromatography of the tryptic hydrolysate of the aminoethylated, glycinamidated β-chain, followed by chymotryptic digestion of the abnormal β T-9 peptide and amino acid analyses. It was shown to be α 2 β 2 73(E17) Asp → Val and named Hb Mobile.

Description / Table of Contents: Dispersions of anionic segmented polyamide urea urethane ionomers were prepared by reaction of NCO-prepolymers with diamines in the presence of tetracarbonic acid dianhydrides. Analysis of the NCO groups indicates that the adduct of two molecules of diamine and one molecule of dianhydride is the in situ formed chain extender.During preparation and storage of the dispersion excess NCO groups react with water under chain extension, whereas a reaction with urea or urethane groups occurs in the absence of a solvent or dispersing agent. The moduli increase with increasing concentration of COO- groups. Physical crosslinks formed by hydrogen bonding or Coulomb forces can largely be removed by swelling with water.

Notes: Two kinds of errors are found in protein models made with the tool of Rubin and Richardson. Global errors result from the accumulation of many errors too small to localize, while local errors are assignable to particular bends in the model. We here locate the sources of local errors, and show how to minimize both kinds of errors.

Description / Table of Contents: Spectroscopical Investigations on N,N′-Disubstituted Dithiomalonamides and their Co(II)-ComplexesThe Co(II)-complexes of N,N′-disubstituted dithiomalonamides have been synthesized and characterized. Comparative uv/vis-, ir-, epr-, x-ray-, and n.m.r.-spectral studies of this complexes and of the dithiomalonamides suggest that their Co(II)-compounds are S4-coordinated square planar inner complexes (CoL2). The orbital splitting parameters Δ of these complexes have been calculated in the order of less than 20000 cm-1.For compounds CoL2 by this way the following spectrochemical series of the ligands results: dmma 〈 d clmma 〈 dnma 〈 d clpma 〈 dpma. All dithiomalonamides investigated in this work exist nearly complete in the dithion-form.
