Contributions to the Chemistry of Boron. LXXI. Hexacarbonyl-μ-S, S′-dimethylaminodithioborato-diironFe2(CO)9 reacts with CH3B(SCH3)2 to yield CO, Fe(CO)5, and an intermediate containing boron which decomposes to give [(CO)3FeSCH3]2. C6H5B(SCH3)2 and B(SCH3)3 behave similarly. Also, the (CH3)2NB group will be cleaved from 2-dimethylamino-1,3,2-dithiaborolane with formation of (CO)6Fe2S2C2H4. The reaction of Fe2(CO)9 with B,B′,B″-tris(dimethylamino)borthiine leads to the sublimable dimethylaminodithioborato complex (CO)6Fe2[S2BN(CH3)2], a novel type of a transition metal thioborate.
Notes:
