Quantum-Chemical Investigations of the Correlations of PE, UV, and pKa Data of Aromatic Phosphines and AminesUsing the PPP-SCF-CI method, the PE and UV spectroscopic data of p-substituted phenylphosphines 1 and anilines 2 are calculated with deviations less than 2%. The parameters deduced in this manner allow calculation of the π-localization energies, which are shown to correlate very well with the liquid phase pKa values of these compounds. In contrast there is no satisfactory correlation between the vertical ionization potentials of then-orbitals, obtained from the experimental PE spectra, and the pKa values.

Im Rahmen der PPP-SCF-CI-Methode werden PE- und UV-spektroskopische Daten von p-substituierten Phenylphosphinen 1 und Anilinen 2 mit Abweichungen von weniger als 2% berechnet. Mit den dabei gewonnenen Parametersätzen lassen sich für diese Verbindungen π-Lokalisierungsenergien berechnen, die mit den Flüssigphasen-pKa-Werten sehr gut korrelieren. Dagegen ist die Korrelation der aus den experimentellen PE-Spektren ermittelten vertikalen Ionisationspotentiale der n-Orbitale mit den pKa-Werten unbefriedigend.
