    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wird der gleichzeitige Transport von Wärme und Wasser in einer Form aus Grünsand kurze Zeit nach dem Eingießen von flüssigem Metall in den Hohlraum untersucht. Die maßgebenden Gleichungen werden mit Hilfe der finiten Differenzen gelöst und die Ergebnisse zur Überprüfung mit Experimentalwerten verglichen. Berücksichtigt werden die Wirkung der thermischen Stoffwerte und der Durchlässigkeit der Form, der Menge des enthaltenen Wassers, der Heiztemperatur (also der Temperatur des flüssigen Metalls) und anderer Faktoren der Wärmeübertragung zwischen flüssigem Metall und Form, des Druckanstiegs in der Forme und der Entwicklung einer ausgetrockneten Zone um den Guß. Zur Vorhersage der Übertragungsvorgänge werden empirische Gleichungen mit Hilfe dimensionsloser Parameter entwickelt.
    Notes: Abstract Studied in this paper is simultaneous transfer of heat and water vapor which takes place in a green sand mold in a very short period of time after pouring a molten metal in its cavity. Governing equations describing heat and mass transfer in a mold are solved by finite difference method and the results are compared with the actually measured values to examine the validity of the calculated results. The effect of thermal properties and permeability of the mold, the amount of water contained, the heating temperature (i.e., temperature of casting metal) and other factors on the heat transfer rate at the interface between the molten metal and the mold, the pressure rise in the mold and the development of dried zone around the casting are investigated to propose some empirical relations available for predicting those transfer phenomena by using dimensionless parameters presented.

    Notes: Abstract Glassy solids of the system Al2O3-P2O5-SiO2, which have not been obtainable because of the devitrification of glass during the cooling process after melting, were obtained by the gel method. After the gels of the system Al2O3-P2O5-SiO2 were prepared from AlCl3·6H2O, H3PO4 and Si(OC2H5)4, they were heat treated up to 800° C to obtain glassy solids. In SiO2 concentrations ranging from 75 to 82 mol % in batch compositions, non-porous transparent solids were obtained, while in SiO2 concentrations above 87 mol %, porous transparent solids were obtained. Tridymite was precipitated because of the crystallization of glassy solids during heat treatment above 800° C. It depended upon the microstructure of the gels whether non-porous glassy solids were obtained or not. The thermal expansion coefficients of the glassy solids were greatly dependent upon the concentration of P2O5, ranging from 1.7×10−6 to 4.2×10−6 (1/° C).

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Каталитическая реакция между углеводородом и двуокисью углерода, напр., CH4+CO2→2CO+2H2 или C6H5CH3+CO2→C6H6+2CO+X2, была исследована на различных катализаторах при атмосферном давлении. В общем, катализатор Rh−Al2O3 оказался превосходным по активности и селективности. Скорость реакции умеренно зависит от давления двуокиси углерода, в то время как слабо зависит от давления углеводорода.
    Notes: Abstract The catalytic reaction between hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide, e.g. CH4+ +CO2→2CO+2H2 and C6H6CH3+CO2→C6H6+2CO+H2, has been investigated over various metallic catalysts under atmospheric pressure. In general, Rh−Al2O3 catalyst was found to be excellent in activity and selectivity. The reaction rates were moderately dependent on the pressure of carbon dioxide, whereas it was little influenced by the pressure of hydrocarbon.

    Notes: Summary We constructed an spo0F deletion (spo0FΔS) mutant of Bacillus subtilis by inserting a chromosomal segment carried by plasmid pUBSFΔS. This plasmid carries a 0.7-kilobase pair deletion that removes the spo0F promoter and a part of the structural gene. We used the spo0F deletion mutant to isolate a new intergenic suppressor of the spo0F phenotype, designated sof1. The sof1 suppressor completely restores the sporulation ability of all spo0F defective mutants tested, including spo0F77, spo0F221 and spo0FΔS. The sof1 suppressor maps to the left of lys1 on the B. subtilis chromosome, in a region rich in sporulation markers and distant from the spo0F locus.
