Description / Table of Contents:
Cellulose films containing different amounts of carboxymethylgroups were prepared by the viscose process. The strength, swelling and interaction with water vapour of these films were investigated. Various ways of preparation (carboxymethylation of pulp, mixing of alkali cellulose with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose prior to sulfidation, addition of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose to the viscose solution prior to film casting), and various compositions of the precipitation bath were compared. Considering the results with model films reported in Part I of this paper, the effect of structure formation processes, substitution degree at carboxymethyl groups and counter ion on the film properties are discussed.
Notes:
