Preparation, Thermal Stability, and Crystal Structure of the Calcium Arsenide Chloride Ca3AsCl3CaAsCa3AsCl3 was prepared as a grayish white, microcrystalline powder by the reaction of Ca, As, and CaCl2 in the molar ratio 3:2:3 and by the reaction of “Ca3As2” and CaCl2 in the molar ratio 1:3. Colourless single crystals of the compound were obtained. Ca3AsCl3 begins to decompose reversibly at 1 025°C by forming the phase Ca2—xAs1—xCl1+x with x = 0.13 and CaCl2. Single crystal investigations show that Ca3AsCl3 is isotypic with Mg3NF3; see: “Inhaltsübersicht”.

Ca3AsCl3 wurde als graustichig weißes, mikrokristallines Pulver durch Reaktion von Ca, As und CaCl2 im Molverhältnis 3:2:3 und durch Umsetzung von “Ca3As2” und CaCl2 im Molverhältnis 1:3 dargestellt. Farblose Einkristalle der Verbindung wurden gezüchtet.Ca3AsCl3 zerfällt ab 1025°C reversibel in die Phase Ca2—xAs1—xCl1+x mit x = 0,13 und CaCl2. Einkristalluntersuchungen zeigen, daß Ca3AsCl3 im Mg3NF3-Typ kristallisiert (a = 576,0 pm, d425 = 2,62, ρrö = 2,62 g · cm-3, Z = 1, Raumgruppe Pm3m (Nr. 221)). Die Ca2+-Ionen sind von 2 As3-- und 4 Cl--Ionen, die As3--Ionen von 6 Ca2+-Ionen oktaedrisch umgeben, die Cl--Ionen quadratisch von 4 Ca2+-Ionen - jeweils im Abstand von 288 pm.
