    Notes: This review deals with the events which are triggered in tissue culture cells upon exposure to medium hyperosmolarity, to virus infection and to inducers of terminal differentiation. Increased medium osmolarity mimics, in several ways, events which follow infection of cells by cytopathogenic viruses. These are: inhibition of uptake of amino acids, glucose and uridine, the release or activation of a low molecular weight substance which mediates an immediate and specific inhibition of polypeptide chain initiation, and alteration in the phosphorylation state of ribosomal proteins. All these effects appear to be related to or be a consequence of membrane alterations. Similar alterations in transport and protein synthesis are initiated in Friend erythroleukemic cells upon induction of terminal differentiation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Chemical Transport Reactions of Ni-Sulfides and Some Relationships in C.T.R. of Complex Solids in the Case of Sulfides of Fe, Co, NiCrystals of α-Ni3S2, NiS, and NiS2 as well as solid solutions Fe1-yNiySx were grown by C.T.R. The coexistence equilibrium pressure of the solution equilibrium pressure p(S2), the activity of the metal component, the stability of gaseous metal halides concerning decomposition as well as their stability related on the transport agent have to be taken into account to choose a suitable transport agent, which have a sometimes opposite influence on the transport behaviour. Halogenes, hydrogen halides, and GeI2 were used as transport medium.
    Notes: Durch chemische Transportreaktionen wurden Kristalle der Phasen α-Ni3S2, NiS und NiS2 sowie Mischkristalle Fe1-yNiySx erhalten. Bei der Auswahl des Transportmittels sind der Koexistenzzersetzungsdruck bzw. Löslichkeitsdruck p(S2) und die Metallaktivität im Bodenkörper, die Stabilität der gasförmigen Metallhalogenide bezüglich Zerfall und ihre Stabilität relativ zum Transportmittel zu beachten, die z. T. gegenläufigen Einfluß haben. Geeignete Transportmittel sind Halogene, Halogenwasserstoffe und GeI2.

    Description / Table of Contents: Dissoziation Behaviour of Dimerie Metal Halides and the Formation of MnAl2Cl8The thermal dissoziation was measured of the gaseous dimeric metal halides Al2Cl6, Ga2Cl6, In2Cl6, and Mn2I4 and the formation of the gaseous chloride complex MnAl2Cl8 by MnCl2,f and Al2Cl6,g in a membrane manometer. The enthalpy and the entropy of these reactions were derived.
    Notes: Die thermische Dissoziation der gasförmigen dimeren Metallhalogenide Al2Cl6, Ga2Cl6, In2Cl6 und Mn2I4 sowie die Bildung des gasförmigen Chloridkomplexes MnAl2Cl8 aus MnCl2,f und Al2Cl6,g wurden im Membrannullmanometer gemessen und die entsprechenden Reaktionsenthalpien und -entropien ermittelt.

    Description / Table of Contents: On the Chemical Transport of MnCl2 with MeCl3 (Me = Al, Ga, In)The transport behaviour of MnCl2 with MeCl3 (Me = Al, Ga, In) has been calculated by the aid of the solubilities in the gas phase taking into account the gaseous chlorid complexes MnMeCl5, MnMe2Cl8, and MnMe3Cl11 and compared with the experimental results. The transport take place only from hot to cold with InCl3, where as a maximum of the solubility of the gas phase exists using AlCl3 and GaCl3. There is a good agreement between the calculated and the experimental results.
    Notes: Das Transportverhalten von MnCl2 mit MeCl3 (Me = Al, Ga, In) wird unter Berücksichtigung der gasförmigen Chloridkomplexe MnMeCl5, MnMe2Cl8 und MnMe3Cl11 über die Gasphasenlöslichkeiten berechnet und mit den experimentellen Ergebnissen verglichen. Während bei Verwendung von AlCl3 und GaCl3 ein Maximum der Gasphasenlöslichkeit auftritt, werden mit InCl3 als Transportmittel nur heiß-kalt-Transporte festgestellt. Die berechneten und experimentellen Ergebnisse zeigen eine gute Übereinstimmung.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation of the Superconducting Ternary Phase PbMo6S8 by Chemical Transport ReactionsThe only ternary phase existing in the system Pb—Mo—S is the superconducting compound PbxMo6Sy (PMS). It can be transported by CTR using PbBr2 if an equilibrium mixture of PMS and Mo is present at the starting side, or if there is the pure PMS phase not exceeding a critical sulphur content. The transport conditions were deduced from a thermodynamical analysis of the system Pb—Mo—S—Br. Now it can be stated that all condensed phases occuring in the Pb—Mo—S system can be deposited from vapour phase by CTR or by sublimation: Pb, Mo, S, PbS, Mo2S3, MoS2, PMS.
    Notes: Im System Pb—Mo—S tritt nur eine ternäre Phase auf: PbxMo6Sy(PMS). Sie kann mit PbBr2 chemisch transportiert werden, wenn der Ausgangsbodenkörper PMS mit Mo im Gleichgewicht enthält oder ein kritischer Schwefelgehalt in PMS nicht überschritten wird. Die Bedingungen für den Transport folgen aus einer thermodynamischen Analyse des Transportsystems. Somit können alle kondensierten Phasen im System durch chemischen Transport oder Sublimation aus der Gasphase abgeschieden werden (Pb, Mo, S, PbS, Mo2S3, MoS2, PMS).

    Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on the System Ge/IThe enthalpy and entropy of evaporation of GeI4 was determined by measurements of the pressure over liquid GeI4. The values for the decomposition reaction 2GeI2, s = Ge, s + GeI4, g and the sublimation of GeI2 were derived from measurements of the total pressure over solid GeI2.The measurements of the total pressure above the saturation ranges of GeI4, and GeI2, s in dependence of the mass employed and the temperature gives a sat of data, from which the values of the enthalpies of formation and the standard entropies of GeI4, g and GeI2g, respectively, result.
    Notes: Aus der Messung des Druckes über flüssigem GeI4 wurden die Verdampfungsenthalpie und -entropie ermittelt und aus der Messung des Gesamtdruckes über festem GeI2 die Daten für die Zersetzungsreaktion 2GeI2, f = Ge, f + GeI4, g und die Sublimation des GeI2 erhalten. Die Messung des Gesamtdruckes oberhalb der Sättigungsbereiche von GeI4, fl und GeI2, f in Abhängigkeit von den Einwaagen und der Temperatur liefert einen Satz von Daten, aus dem die Werte für die Bildungsenthalpien und Standardentropien von GeI4, g und GeI2, g folgen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Equilibrium Measurements in the System Se/O/ClThe evaporation and decomposition behaviour was Studied by total pressure measurements in equilibrium with condensed phases as well as in the unsaturated Vapour. The composition Cl/Se = 4 shows the lowest, the composition Cl/Se = 2 the highest total pressure in the Barogramm of the system Se/Cl. Solid SeCl4 and liquid Se2Cl2 exist as condensed compounds whereas only SeCl2 exists in the gas. The following data were derived (see „Inhaltsübersicht“) from the decomposition sublimation SeCl4, the decomposition of Se2Cl2 and the evaporation and decomposition of SeOCl2.
    Notes: Durch Gesamtdruckmessungen über Bodenkörper und außerhalb des Sättigungsbereiches wurde das Verdampfungs-, bzw. Zersetzungsverhalten Studiert. Im Zustandsbarogramm des Systems Se/Cl hat die Bodenkörperzusammensetzung Cl/Se = 4 den geringsten und Cl/Se = 2 den höchsten Gesamtdruck. Im Bodenkörper existieren als diskrete Verbindungen SeCl4,f und Se2Cl2,fl, in der Gasphase tritt nur SeCl2 auf. Aus der Zersetzungssublimation von SeCl4 und der Zersetzungsreaktion von Se2Cl2 folgen die Daten ΔHB°(SeCl2,g,298) = -29,8 kJ/mol und S°(Se2Cl2,fl,298) = 247 J/K · mol. Für die Verdampfung von SeOCl2 gelten ΔH°(verd, SeOCl2,298) = 55,0 kJ/mol und S°(verd. SeOCl2,298) = 126,5 J/K · mol. Aus der Zersetzungsreaktion des gasförmigen SeOCl2 wird die Bildungsenthalpie ΔHB°(SeOCl2,g,298) = -128,0 kJ/mol abgeleitet.
