    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis, IR Spectrum, and Crystal Structure of Sb12O18(OH)2Cl22 · 2CH2Cl2The title compound has been prepared by the reaction of Sb5O7Cl11 with dichloromethane at 20°C, forming colourless, moisture sensitive crystals. Sb12O18(OH)2Cl22 · 2CH2Cl2 crystallizes monoclinically in the space group P21/n with two formula units per unit cell. Structure solution with 2696 unique observed reflections, R = 0.042. Lattice dimensions at 19°C: a = 1350.2, b = 1466.7, c = 1392.9 pm, b̃ = 97.925°. The distorted octahedrally coordinated antimony atoms, bridged by oxygen atoms, exhibit a molecular array which may be seen as a fragment of the rutile type structure, isolated by terminal chloride ligands. The solvate molecule is associated by a hydrogen bridge OH···Cl.
    Notes: Die Titelverbindung entsteht in Form farbloser Kristalle bei der Reaktion von Sb5O7Cl11 mit Dichlormethan bei 20°C. Sb12O18(OH)2Cl22 · 2CH2Cl2 kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/n mit zwei Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle. Strukturlösung mit 2696 unabhängigen beobachteten Reflexen, R = 0,042. Gitterkonstanten bei 19°C: a = 1350,2; b = 1466,7; c = 1392,9 pm, b̃ = 97,925°. Die verzerrt oktaedrisch koordinierten und über Sauerstoffatome verbrückten Antimonatome bilden ein molekulares Gerüst, das als ein durch terminale Chlorliganden isolierter Ausschnitt aus der Rutilstruktur angesehen werden kann. Das Solvatmolekül ist durch eine Wasserstoffbrücke OH…Cl assoziiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Molecular Structure of Bis[salicylaldehyde-2-hydroxyanilato(2 - )]vanadium(IV)By the reaction of tris(acetylacetonato)vanadium(III) with salicylaldehyde-2-hydroxyanil the non-oxo vanadium(IV) complex of this ligand was prepared. Bis[salicylaldehyde-2-hydroxyanilato(2 - )]vanadium(IV) has a distorted octahedral structure. Crystallographic data see “Inhaltsübersicht”.
    Notes: Durch Reaktion von Tris(acetylacetonato)vanadium(III) mit Salicylaldehyd-2-hydroxyanil wurde der oxofreie Vanadium(IV)-Komplex dieses Liganden dargestellt und durch Röntgenkristallstrukturanalyse die Struktur bestimmt. Bis[salicylaldehyd-2-hydroxyanilato(2 - )]vanadium(IV) besitzt eine verzerrt-oktaedrische Struktur. Raumgruppe P1, Z = 4, 2722 beobachtete, symmetrieunabhängige Reflexe, R = 7,1%. Gitterabmessungen bei 293 K: a = 964,6(1) pm, b = 1285,4(1) pm, c = 1788,9(2) pm, α = 81,42(1)°, β = 74,39(1)°, γ = 89,33(1)°.

    Description / Table of Contents: Reaction of 2,2-Dimethylpropylidynephosphine with Molybdenum Pentachloride; Crystal Structure of [Mo2Cl6(α,α′-dipyridyl)3]2,2-Dimethylpropylidynephosphine and molybdenum pentachloride dissolved in POCl3 react with oxydation of the phosphorus and reduction of the molybdenum atom to give the alkyne complex [Mo2Cl4(μ-Cl)2(μ-H9C4—C≡C—C4H9)(OPCl3)2]. Addition of α,α′-dipyridyl or of methyltriphenylphosphonium chloride in dichloromethane results in a displacement of the ligands POCl3 and H9C4—C≡C—C4H9 from this complex and in the formation of [Mo2Cl6(dipy)3] or [(H5C6—)3P—CH3]3[Mo2Cl9]. Besides the latter compound small amounts of [(H5C6—)3P—CH3]2[MoCl6] can be isolated from the reaction mixture.[Mo2Cl6(dipy)3] which has already been prepared by other methods crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with {a = 1612; b = 148; c = 1296 pm; γ 109.3°; Z = 4} at 20°C. As shown by a crystal structure determination the complex is built up from [MoCl2(dipy)2]+ cations and [MoCl4(dipy)]- anions. The molybdenum atoms are both octahedrally surrounded. With average values of 238 and 243 pm the Mo—Cl bond distances in the cation, where a cis-arrangement of the chlorine atoms is observed, and in the anion differ significantly from each other.[Mo2Cl6(dipy)3] which has already been prepared by other methods crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with {a = 1612; b = 148; c = 1296 pm; γ = 109.3°; Z = 4} at 20°C. Hieraus entstehen mit α,α′-Dipyridylα,α′-Dipyridyl (dipy); Pyridin (py); Tetrahydrofuran (THF). oder Methyl-triphenylphosphoniumchlorid in Dichlormethan unter Verdrängung der Liganden POCl3 und H9C4—C≡C—C4H9 die Komplexe [Mo2Cl6(dipy)3] und [(H5C6—)3-P—CH3]3[Mo2Cl9]. Zusätzlich lassen sich aus dem Ansatz geringe Mengen an [(H5C6—)3P—CH3]2 [MoCl6] isolieren.Der auch auf anderen Wegen zugängliche Komplex [Mo2Cl6(dipy)3] kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/c mit {a = 1612; b = 1848; c = 1296 pm; γ = 109,3°; Z = 4} bei 20°C. Nach den Ergebnissen einer Kristallstrukturbestimmung (R = 10,3%) ist er aus [MoCl2(dipy)2]+-Kationen und [MoCl4(dipy)]--Anionen aufgebaut. Die Molybdänatome sind oktaedrisch koordiniert; die Mo—Cl Bindungslängen im Kation mit cis-ständig angeordneten Chloratomen und im Anion unterscheiden sich mit Mittelwerten von 238 und 243 pm deutlich.

    Description / Table of Contents: Reactions of Dimethyl Sulfoxide with Molybdenum Tetrabromide and Molybdenum Dibromide Dinitrosyl. Crystal Structure of [MoBr2(NO)2(OSMe2)2]In the cold molybdenum tetrabromide reacts with an equivalent amount of dimethyl sulfoxide forming the solvate [MoBr4(OSMe2)2]; excess dimethyl sulfoxide yields [MoO2Br2(OSMe2)2] which is also obtained by other methods. Molybdenum dibromidedinitrosyl forms the solvate [MoBr2(NO)2(OSMe2)2] in the reaction with dimethyl sulfoxide. According to the i.r. spectra all complexes display O-coordination of the OSMe2 molecules. [MoBr2(NO)2(OSMe2)2] crystallizes monoclinic in the space group P21/c with four formula units per unit cell. The cell dimensions are a = 1236, b = 892, c = 1305 pm, β = 95.2°. 1662 independent observed reflexions were used for refinement; R = 3.8%. The molybdenum atoms are six-coordinated, the O atoms of the dimethyl sulfoxide molecules are in trans-position to the nitrosyl ligands, which form linear groups Mo—N—O.
    Notes: Molybdäntetrabromid reagiert mit der äquivalenten Menge Dimethylsulfoxid unter Kühlung zu dem Solvat [MoBr4(OSMe2)2], mit überschüssigem Dimethylsulfoxid entsteht das auch auf anderem Wege zugängliche [MoO2Br2(OSMe2)2]. Molybdändibromiddinitrosyl bildet mit Dimethylsulfoxid das Solvat [MoBr2(NO)2(OSMe2)2]. Nach den IR-Spektren liegen bei allen Komplexen O-Koordination der OSMe2-Moleküle vor. [MoBr2(NO)2(OSMe2)2] kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/c mit vier Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle. Die Gitterabmessungen sind a = 1236, b = 892, c = 1305 pm, β = 95,2° 1662 unabhängige beobachtete Reflexe, R = 3,8%. Das Molybdän ist sechsfach koordiniert, die O-Atome der Dimethylsulfoxidmoleküle befinden sich in trans-Position zu den in gestreckter Bindung koordinierten cis-ständigen Nitrosylgruppen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis and Crystal Structure of (PPh4)2[Mo2Cl10]The title compound is obtained in the reaction of [MoCl4(Ph—C≡C—Ph)]2 with tetraphenylphosphonium chloride in dichloro methane, forming brown crystals. It is characterized by the i.r. spectrum and a crystal structure analysis by the aid of X-ray diffraction data. The complex crystallizes triclinic in the space group P1 with one formula unit per unit cell. The cell dimensions are a = 1122 pm, b = 1137 pm, c = 1283 pm; α = 63.4°, β = 69.1°, γ = 86.5°. The crystal structure determination (2959 observed, independent reflexions, R = 4.5%) shows the constants of the unit cell to consist of on centrosymmetric anion, two cations and one disordered molecule of dichloro methane. The distance Mo—Mo in the anion is 380 pm, which excludes direct magnetic interaction between the molybdenum atoms.
    Notes: Die Titelverbindung entsteht in Form brauner Kristalle durch Umsetzung von [MoCl4(Ph—C≡C—Ph)]2 mit Tetraphenylphosphoniumchlorid in Dichlormethan; sie wird durch das IR-Spektrum und durch eine Kristallstrukturbestimmung charakterisiert. Der Komplex kristallisiert triklin in der Raumgruppe P1 mit einer Formeleinheit pro Elementarzelle. Die Zellparameter betragen a = 1122 pm, b = 1137 pm, c = 1283 pm, α = 63,4°, β = 69,1°, γ = 86,5°. Die röntgenographische Kristallstrukturbestimmung (2959 beobachtete, unabhängige Reflexe, R = 4,5%) zeigt, daß die Struktur aus zentrosymmetrischen, dimeren Anionen, isolierten Kationen, und einem fehlgeordneten Molekül Dichlormethan pro Elementarzelle besteht. Der Mo—Mo-Abstand im Anion beträgt 380 pm, was eine direkte magnetische Wechselwirkung zwischen den Mo-Atomen ausschließt.

Crystal Structures of [Mo(NO)Cl3 · POCl3]2 and [AsPh4]2[Mo(NO)Cl5] · 2 CH2Cl2Solutions of MoCl5 in POCl3 react with NOCl forming the nitrosyl compound Mo(NO)Cl3 · 2POCl3 (I), which in CH2Cl2 cleaves off one solvate molecule, yielding the dimeric complex [Mo(NO)Cl3 · POCl3]2 (II). Reaction with AsPh4Cl in dichloro methane leads to the nitrosyl complexes AsPh4[Mo(NO)Cl4] · CH2Cl2 (III) and [AsPh4]2[Mo(NO)Cl5] · 2CH2Cl2 (IV), respectively. The i.r. spectra are recorded and assigned.[Mo(NO)Cl3 · POCl3]2 crystallizes monoclinic in the space group P21/c with two dimeric units per unit cell. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction methods (R = 0.040; 1391 observed, independent reflexions). Complex II is linked by chlorine bridges, forming a dimeric, centrosymmetric molecule of symmetry Ci. The N—O bond of the nitrosyl ligand is extremely short (108 pm), the Mo—N bond (181 pm) corresponds to a double bond. In trans position to the NO ligand, which is coordinated in linear array, there is the O atom of the solvate molecule POCl3.[AsPh4]2[Mo(NO)Cl5] · 2 CH2Cl2 crystallizes triclinic in the space group P1 with two units per unit cell (R = 0.039; 1967 observed, independent reflexions). The molybdenum atom is coordinated octahedrally by five Cl ligands and a nitrosyl group, as well coordinated in linear array (Mo—N—O 174°). The nitrosyl ligand exerts a significant trans-effect (r Mo—Cl(trans) = 247 pm, r MoCl4(eq)(average) = 239 pm).
    Notes: Lösungen von MoCl5 in POCl3 reagieren mit NOCl unter Bildung des Nitrosylkomplexes Mo(NO)Cl3 · 2 POCl3 (I), der in CH2Cl2-Lösung ein Mol POCl3 abgibt, wobei der dimere Komplex [Mo(NO)Cl3 · POCl3]2 (II) entsteht. Mit AsPh4Cl in Dichlormethanlösung lassen sich aus I die Nitrosylchlorokomplexe AsPh4[Mo(NO)Cl4] · CH2Cl2 (III) bzw. [AsPh4]2[Mo(NO)Cl5] · 2 CH2Cl2 (IV) erhalten. Die IR-Spektren werden registriert und zugeordnet.[Mo(NO)Cl3 · POCl3]2 kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/c mit zwei dimeren Einheiten pro Elementarzelle. Die Kristallstruktur wurde durch Röntgenbeugungsexperimente ermittelt (R = 0,040; 1391 beobachtete, unabhängige Reflexe). Der Komplex II ist über Chlorobrücken zu zentrosymmetrischen Dimeren verknüpft (Symmetrie Ci). Die NO-Bindungslänge des Nitrosylliganden ist mit 108 pm extrem kurz, die Mo—N-Bindungslänge von 181 pm entspricht etwa einer Doppelbindung. In trans-Position zu dem in gestreckter Anordnung koordinierten NO-Liganden (Mo—N—O 178°) befindet sich das O-Atom des Solvatmoleküls POCl3.[AsPh4]2[Mo(NO)Cl5] · 2CH2Cl2 kristallisiert triklin in der Raungruppe P1 mit zwei Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle (R = 0,039; 1967 beobachtete, unabhängige Reflexe). Das Molybdänatom ist oktaedrisch von fünf Cl-Liganden und der in gestreckter Anordnung koordinierten NO-Gruppe (Mo—N—O 174°) umgeben. Der Nitrosylligand übt einen merklichen trans-Effekt aus (r Mo—Cl (trans) = 247 pm, r MoCl4(äquatorial) = im Mittel 239 pm).

Spectrum, and Crystal StructureThe title compound is obtained from tungsten hexachloride and bis-trimethylsilyl acetylene in the presence of C2Cl4 in dichloro methane, forming green crystals. The complex is characterized by the mass spectrum, the i.r. spectrum, and by a structural analysis with the aid of X-ray diffraction data. [WCl4(Me3Si—C≡C—SiMe3)]2 crystallizes triclinic in the space group P1 with one dimeric formula unit per unit cell (2 231 observed, independent reflexions, R = 4.6%). The cell dimensions are a = 928, b = 938, c = 1 080 pm; α = 115.3°, β = 91.9°, γ = 100.0°. The complex forms centrosymmetric dimers, the units being linked by chloro bridges of bond lengths W—Cl 244 and 272 pm. The trans-position to the long W—Cl bridge is occupied by the acetylene ligand which is bonded side-on with identical W—C bond lengths of 203 pm. Together with the three terminal chlorine ligands (mean W—Cl distance 231 pm) the tungsten atom achieves coordination number seven.

Der Komplex wird durch das Massenspekturm, das IR-Spektrum und mit Hilfe einer Röntgenstrukturanalyse charakterisiert. [WCl4(Me3Si—C≡C—SiMe3)]2 kristallisiert triklin in der Raumgruppe P1 mit einer dimeren Formeleinheit pro Elementarzelle (2 231 unabhängige, beobachtete Reflexe, R = 4,6%). Die Gitterabmessungen sind a = 928, b = 938, c = 1 080 pm, α = 115,3°, β = 91,9°, γ = 100,0°. Der Komplex ist über Chlorobrücken mit W—Cl-Abständen von 244 und 272 pm zu einem zentrosymmetrischen Dimeren verknüpft. In trans-Stellung zur langen W—Cl-Brückenbindung befindet sich der seitlich und symmetrisch gebundene Acetylenligand mit W—C-Abständen von 203 pm. Zusammen mit den drei terminalen Chlorliganden (W—Cl-Abstand im Mittel 231 pm) erreicht das Wolfram die Koordinationszahl sieben.
