Fluorenylsilanes, V. Rearrangements of Silyl-substituted FluorenylsilanesReaction of 9-fluorenyltris(trimethylsilyl)silane (1) with iodine yields 9-fluorenyliodobis(trimethylsilyl)silane (2) exclusively, whereas 1 reacts with bromine initially by simultaneous formation of (9-bromo-9-fluorenyl)tris(trimethylsilyl)silane (4) and bromo-9-fluorenylbis(trimethylsilyl)silane (3). With an excess of bromine dibromo(9-bromo-9-fluorenyl)(trimethylsilyl)silane (6) is obtained from 3 or 4. Silane 4 rearranges thermally or by means of Ag2SO4 to give bromobis(trimethylsilyl)[9-(trimethylsilyl)-9-fluorenyl]silane (7) by exchange of the bromo and one trimethylsilyl substituent. On hydrolysis of 2 or 7 in aqueous acetone and in the presence of Ag2SO4 the corresponding silanols 11 or 8 are formed. The silanolate, which is obtained by deprotonation of 8 with n-butyllithium, is subject to a 1,3-migration of the silyl group from C-9 of the fluorenyl moiety to the silanolate oxygen. Subsequent reaction with chlorosilanes yields (9-silyl-9-fluorenyl)bis(trimethylsilyl)trimethylsilyloxy)silanes (9, 10). The trimethylsilyl derivative 9 can also be synthesized by consecutive reaction of 11 with n-butyllithium and chlorotrimethylsilane.
Notes:
