Contributions to the Chemistry of Silicon and Germanium. XXXVI. Preparation of Magnesium Silicide from the Elements by SinteringA method is described to produce magnesium silicide - in amounts of 15-20 kg per charge - by sinuering a mixture of the pulverized elements in a new constructed reactor. The magnesium silicide gained by tempering the mixture at the reaction temperature of 650°C for 24hours is a fine, homogeneous powder of grey-blue colour, which directly can be used to produce silanes by acid decomposition.

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Darstellung von Magnesiumsilicid - in Mengen von 15-20 kg pro Ansatz - durch Sintern einer Mischung der feingepulverten Elemente in einem neu konstruierten Reaktor beschrieben. Das Magnesiumsilicid, das man nach 24stündigem Tempern bei einer Reaktionstemperatur von 650°C erhält, ist ein feines, homogenes, graublaues Pulver, das unmittelbar zur Darstellung von Silanen durch Säurezersetzung benutzt werden kann.
