Notes: Macaroni was produced from commercial durum semolina blended with 10, 20, and 30% defatted corn germ meal. The effect of germ supplementation on chemical composition, physical properties of dough, cooking characteristics, mechanical properties, and panel acceptability of macaroni were studied. Addition of corn germ meal resulted in longer mixing time of the dough, higher farinograph water absorption, higher protein content of the products and improvement of amino acids pattern. Optimum cooking time and percent increase in weight of cooked macaroni decreased with increasing levels of wheat substitution. Enrichment with germ flour had no effect on flavor and texture of conventional macaroni evaluated by taste panels; it greatly affected physical measurements of cooked product texture causing an increase of firmness.

Notes: Abstract We describe an explicitN=2 supergravity model where an arbitrarily light vector boson (“graviphoton”) is coupled, with typical gravitational strength to matter hypermultiplets, possessing unbroken gauge interactions as well. We discuss: i) the mass and the couplings of the graviphoton; ii) the consistency of its coupling to a mass generated by the Higgs mechanism; iii) the actual composition of the graviphoton in terms of the original vector fields of the Lagrangian (e.g. its mixing with the photon).

Notes: Abstract We study the possibility that theU(1) B global symmetry associated with baryon number is spontaneously broken. We present realistic examples implemented in the context of a suitably extended standardSU(2) L×U(1)×SU(3)c model and of a composite model of quarks and leptons. The globalU(1) B symmetry in both cases is spontaneously broken at a relatively low mass scale without any conflict with observations. The dominant baryon number nonconserving process in these models obeys the ΔB=2 selection rule.

Notes: Abstract We compute the one loop quadratic divergences to the effective potential of the matter scalars inN=1 supergravity. We discuss in some special instances (the Das-Freedman and the Deser-Zumino Lagrangians) the problem of supersymmetry gauge invariance. We comment on the relevance of the calculation to model building.

    Notes: Abstract We investigate the consequences of a CP violating gauge invariant pointlike four-fermion interaction at the TeV scale. It induces an enhancement of the production cross-sections $$\sigma \left( {p\bar p \to e^ - \bar v_e + X} \right)$$ and $$\sigma \left( {p\bar p \to e^ + \bar v_e + X} \right)$$ , together with a CP violating relative difference between these cross-sections at the % level, due to interference with radiative corrections. A complete calculation of the CP asymmetry is made for different values of the center of mass energy $$\sqrt s = 2, 10, 40 TeV$$ , 40 TeV.

Notes: Abstract We describe a supersymmetric model of strong and electroweak interactions based on the gauge groupSU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)×Ũ(1). We concentrate on the pattern of the spontaneous symmetry breaking by the tree level scalar potential. It is possible to break theŨ(1) factor at superlarge energies relative to the simultaneous breaking scale ofSU(2)×U(1) and supersymmetry. The model hasŨ(1) anomalies. Attempts to make an anomaly-free model based on the groupE 6 are described. We also comment on possible modifications of theŨ(1) anomaly problem due to gravitational effects.

Description / Table of Contents: Complexes R2SnL (R = CH3, C6H5; L2- = tridentate ONO and SNO ligands) are synthesized, and their configuration is investigated by vibrational, PMR and electronic spectroscopy. The ligands H2L are: 2-pentanone-4-(2-benzothiazolinyl), (prepared for the first time); 3-(o-hydroxyphenylamino)crotonophenone; 2-(o-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazoline; 2,2′methylidynenitrilo diphenol. Their configuration at the solid state is discussed. The ligands seem to coordinate the tin (IV) atoms as planar tridentates, in the dianion Schiff base form. The R2SnIV moieties very probably assume a bent configuration in R2SnL. Hypotheses on the structure of R2SnL are then advanced: the possible occurrence of a quasi trigonal bipyramidal geometry, where the two carbon (R) atoms and the azomethine nitrogen atom are allocated in the trigonal plane and the O, O or S, O ligand atoms lie in axial position, is discussed.

Description / Table of Contents: Komplexe des Zinn (IV) mit dreizähigen Liganden.
Notes: The configuration in the solid state and in solution phase of complexes of SuIV wit,li tridentate “planar” ligands, Sn(trid)2 and HNEt3Cl3 Sntrid, have been investigated by infrared and MÖSSBAUER spectroscopy, as well as by osmometry, conductivity, and electronic and PMR spectroscopy. The presence of monomeric Sn(trid)2 and ionic [HNEt+3] [Cl3Sn trid-] species has been inferred. Octahedral type configurations are advanced for both classes of compounds.
