Die Produkte der Ätzung der Oberfläche von Poly(tetrafluorethylen) mit Naphthalin-Natrium in THF wurden mit Hilfe der Photoelektronen-Spektroskopie (XPS) untersucht. Dabei wurde auch der Einfluß der Nachbehandlung der Oberfläche (Spülen mit Wasser oder THF) berücksichtigt. Aus der elementaren Zusammensetzung der veränderten Oberfläche und aus den chemischen Verschiebungen in den XPS-Spektren wurden Informationen über die Konzentrationsgradienten der Elemente und die chemische Zusammensetzung in verschiedenen Schichttiefen erhalten.

The layer of reaction products on the surface of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) etched with a solution of sodiumnaphthalene in tetrahydrofuran was investigated by means of XPS photoelectron spectroscopy. The etched surfaces were also examined after vigorous rinsing with water and tetrahydrofuran. Using the elementary compositions thus determined and chemical shifts in XPS spectra, information was obtained regarding the concentration gradient of the elements and the chemical composition at various depths of the etched layer.
