Description / Table of Contents: The atlas of the water balance of the Northern Polar area has been made for the first time. It was prepared by scientists of the Arctic and Antarctic research institute. The atlas includes monthly and annual maps of all water fluxes at the earth's surface, variations of total water mass content and horizontal total water mass influxes in the atmosphere, annual map of horizontal total water mass influxes in the ocean and on land. There are also maps and graphs of annual variations of snow cover boundaries, of snow depth and density in the atlas. At present it is the comprehensive on components of the water balance of the area 90-65°N for mean climatic conditions. In all, there are 81 maps in the atlas. The explanations of the atlas contain water balance equations, methods of observations and calculation of balance components and their brief characteristic. The atlas is intended for use in research, practical and educational work. It can be used by a wide range of specialists in the field of natural sciences.
