Description:
Orius laevigatus in the Netherlands\n(Heteroptera: Anthocoridae)\nOrius laevigatus was captured in 2005 at 21 localities\non nettle in banks and borders, all but one\nin greenhouse areas. The possible cause of its\noccurrence in the Netherlands is supposed to be\neither a natural northern shift of its range caused\nby the changing climate, or the escape of specimens\nfrom greenhouses, where the species is used\nfrequently for biological control of western flower\nthrips.
