Notes: Three kinds of colloidal silica (CS)/silane sol solutions were synthesized in variation withparameters such as different acidity and reaction time. Sol solutions were prepared from HSA CS/methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS), LS CS/MTMS and LS CS/MTMS/γ -Glycidoxypropyltri methoxysilane(ES) solutions. In order to understand their physical and chemical properties, sol-gel coating filmswere fabricated on glass. Coating films on glass, obtained from LS/MTMS sol, had high contact angle, also, much enhanced flat surface in the case of LS/MTMS sol was observed in comparison with HSA/MTMS sol. From all sol-gel solutions, seasoning effect of for enhancing properties of sol-gel coatinglayer on glass was observed while such sol-gel solutions were left for 7days. In initial stage of sol-gelreaction, all most of sol solutions used in this work seem to be unstable, formation of coating films was alittle hazy and rough. However, improved coating films as observed in 4days later. LS/MTMS/ES solsolutions were synthesized with ES, adding to LS/MTMS sol. Contact angle of LS/MTMS/ES sol-gelcoating films decreased, since ES played a role in forming hydrophilic hydroxyl sol. The elastic portion ofcoating films prepared from LS/MTMS/ES sol increased with addition of ES, but thermal stabilitydecreased a little

Notes: Non-aggregated nanoscale α-Al2O3 powders with average size ranging from 7 to 20 nmwere prepared successfully at various conditions with the use of the hydrated aluminum sulfateextracted from kaolin by polyacrylamine (PAA) gel method. The calcination temperature wasrelatively lower about 100°C, compared to conventional solid-state reaction. It revealed that PAAworked as a chelating agent to disperse the Al3+ ions homogeneously, and the size of aluminananoparticles could be controlled by varying the concentration of crosslinking agent

Notes: Monodispersed Cu powders were prepared in aqueous solution through a wet-reductionprocess with hydrazine hydrate (N2H4·H2O). In particular, the effect of the dispersant such as sodiumpyrophosphate decahydrate (Na4O7P2·10H2O), carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt (CMC) in watersolvent on the particle size for the prepared Cu powders was investigated. The Cu powders essentiallywere monodispersed and irregular in shape regardless of reaction temperature and dispersant. In the caseof adding the Na4O7P2·10H2O, the particle size of Cu powders increased with the increase of reactiontemperature, which the particles were agglomerated in irregular shape and became to be large. Theparticle size distributions was asymmetry and to be broad regardless of reaction temperature. On the otherhand, when the CMC was added, the particle size of Cu powders, which were much finer compared withadding the Na4O7P2·10H2O as a dispersant, was not much changed with reaction temperature. The particlesize distribution of Cu powder was much narrow regardless of reaction temperature. As a result, it wouldbe suggested that the CMC was more effective dispersant reagent to produce the monodispersed and fineCu powders with narrow size distribution using the wet chemical reduction process

Notes: This paper presents the effects of ceramic fillers on light reflectance and arc resistance ofPTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene) for nozzle of circuit breaker. In arc environment of a circuit breaker, radiation generated from arcing is considered to play a key role in transport mechanism of arc energy tothe wall. Adding some ceramic fillers into PTFE material is expected to be efficient for improving theendurance against arc radiation. In this experiment, three kinds of ceramic fillers for achieving goodendurance in the high temperature were used. Light reflectance and arc resistance of PTFE compositeswere investigated. The arc resistance of PTFE composites increased with the amount of ceramic fillers. The light reflectance of PTFE composites filled with ceramic fillers increased in the long wavelengthregion and decreased largely in the short wavelength region in comparison with that of pure PTFE

Notes: Organic-inorganic hybrid blends were prepared in variation with the ratio of sol solution to urethaneacrylic resin. Such sol solutions were synthesized from colloidal silica (CS)/ methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS)/vinyltrimethoxysilane(VTMS) by sol-gel reaction through two step reactions. Thin films of organic-inorganic hybrid blends were prepared using spin coater on the glass and aluminum sheets. In order to understand surface properties of thin films, contact angle androughness were measured. Surface contact angle and roughness of thin films increased as the amount of sol solution increased. Thermal dissociation temperature of thin films was observed using TGA. Thin films were stable until 270 oC. Thermal dissociation temperature of thin films improved with increasing sol solution. In order to observe insulation property of thin films, electrical resistance measurements were performed. Surface and volume resistance of thin films increased as the amount of sol solution increased

Notes: Colloidal silica/silane sol solutions were prepared in variation with the ratio of silane tocolloidal silica. Such sol solutions were synthesized from colloidal silica/tetramethoxysilane (TMOS)/methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS). Sol solutions were prepared by sol-gel reaction through two step reactions. To understand their physical and chemical properties, dip coating of sol solutionswas performed on the glass substrates. Contact angle and thickness of coating films increased with increasing the amount of MTMS. The surface free energy of coating films decreased with increasing amount of MTMS. Coating films were stable until 550℃. Thermal degradation temperature of coating films decreased with increasing amount of MTMS. Plastic hardness decreased with increasing amount of MTMS. Elastic portion increased with increasing amount of MTMS

Notes: Nanocrystalline nickel powders were prepared by chemical reduction of nickel chloride hydrate with different surfactant at moderate temperature in a pressurized vessel. Nickel nanosheets were generated successfully through reducing the nickel ion complexes, formed by sodium tartrate, at alkaline condition by hydrazine hydrate. The nanosheets and nanowires were characterized by the means of an X-ray diffractomer (XRD), a field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) and a high sensitivemagnetometer (HSM)

Notes: Porous hydroxyapatite (HAp) scaffolds were successfully prepared by using the HAp slurry based on the replication of polymer sponge substrate. The effect of HAp content in slurry on the pore morphology and size, and density, porosity, and mechanical strength of porous scaffolds was investigated. The scaffolds with average pore sizes ranging from 200 to 400 µm had an open, relatively uniform, and interconnected porous structure. As the HAp content increased, the porosityof scaffold decreased while the density increased. These phenomena were attributed to the fact that the pores became interconnected with more dense and thicker pore walls with increasing HAp content in slurry. The results suggest that the density, porosity, and compressive strength of the porous HAp scaffold were significantly affected by the content of the HAp powder in the slurry

Notes: Two kinds of colloidal silica(CS)/silane sol solutions were prepared. Two sol solutions areinvolved with the kinds of silane such as methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS) and [removed info] -Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(ETMS) using LS CS. MTMS was added to two sol solutions. Whether ETMS wasadded or not, two kinds of sol solutions were synthesized. Using two kinds of sol solutions, sol-gelcoating films were formed on glass substrates via dip-coating process. Here, seasoning effect of forenhancing properties of sol-gel coating layer on glass was investigated while such sol-gel solutionswere left for 7days. Also, their properties such as surface free energy, roughness, thermal property, potential hardness and elastic portion were characterized in order to understand the effect of additionof ETMS. In this case of LS/MTMS sol, the coating film had low surface free energy and moreenhanced flat surface than that of the case of LS/MTMS/ETMS sol. ETMS forms hydrophilichydroxyl group in sol solution, then surface free energy of LS/MTMS/ETMS coating film increased. In the beginning of reaction sol solution seemed to be unstable, but 4days later their coating filmproperties such as surface free energy and roughness enhanced. The elastic portion of coating filmsobtained from LS/MTMS/ETMS sol increased with addition of ETMS, but thermal stabilitydecreased
