    Description: Esta monografía proporciona un resumen de las herramientas básicas de estadística descriptiva e inferencia estadística,con un apartado dedicado al análisis de supervivencia. Se presentan 3 ejemplos de aplicación de las técnicas con datos reales del ámbito clínico usando el programa estadístico SPSS. Está pensada para usuarios que quieran recordar de forma sencilla y rápida los conceptos básicos de estadística descriptiva y contrastes de hipótesis, así como tener una guía de qué técnica aplicar en función del problema a resolver. El capítulo dedicado al análisis de supervivencia está especialmente destinado a las personas interesadas en disponer de una guía práctica de cómo realizar este análisis con SPSS. Los ejemplos ilustrados son del ámbito de las Ciencias de la Salud, lo que puede ser especialmente útil, aunque no exclusivo, para todos los interesados de este ámbito.

    Description: Are children under 2 years old exposed to apps? Which ones? How often? What kind of apps would be best suited for small children based on their physical and cognitive development, the evolution of their play patterns and their ability to interact with mobile devices? How to design apps as appropriate as possible for children under 2 years old? These are some of the main questions that are answered through the research presented in this publication. An investigation that demonstrates that children under 2 years of age in Spain are playing with apps and highlights the relevance of generating supporting documentation, for improving the use and the design of apps for such a vulnerable target. The research presents pioneering information for the industry and developers with specific proposals on how to design children's apps taking into consideration children's development and their possibilities in terms of recreational, educational, graphical and interactive content. The information also supports educators and parents when it comes to choosing apps and defining the ways of use that may be most appropriate for each child in each age group.

    Description: L’objecte d’aquest estudi ha estat revisar i analitzar l’educació i l’ensenyament impartit per part de les religioses vedrunes de Tarragona, des del 1917 al 1964. Amb aquest llibre es pretén recuperar la memòria històrica d’uns anys de dictadura que donaven poc espai a la manera d’ensenyar a les escoles. Tot i això, el mètode Montessori, o els de Pau Delclós, Joan Llongueras Badia i Jacques Dalcroze van estar presents en aquell ensenyament. Però també vol contribuir a treure a la llum un edifici esplèndid que va ser enderrocat per total manca d’estimació a un llegat dels arquitectes modernistes de casa nostra: Bernardo Pejoàn Sanmartí, Pere Caselles Tarrats, Josep M. Pujol de Barberà i Josep M. Jujol i Gibert. És un llibre de records de moltes i molts alumnes que han passat per aquelles aules del carrer d’August, amb voluntat de palesar un model avançat i potent d’ensenyament, en el qual prevalia la preparació de la dona per sortir al mercat laboral, evidentment, immers en la ideologia pròpia d’aquella societat dominada pel dictador, però en una escola en la que s’anteposava el rendiment acadèmic a les ràncies normes del comportament social del moment.

    Description: Le catalan en Catalogne Nord est une langue vivante. L’Enquesta d’usos lingüísitics (EUL-CN) réalisée en décembre 2015 en atteste. Cette enquête qui est la plus importante effectuée sur la connaissance, la pratique et les représentations de la langue catalane, avec 1 760 personnes interrogées, montre aussi les faiblesses d’une langue reléguée par la France au rang de « régionale ». L’étude s’inscrit dans les travaux menés à l’Université de Perpignan par les enseignants-chercheurs de l’IFCT, Institut Franco-Catalan Transfrontalier et membres de l’ICRECS - CRESEM (Institut Català de Recerca en Ciències Socials) ; elle a été possible grâce au soutien financier de la Generalitat de Catalunya et du Conseil Départemental, et grâce à la collaboration avec la Direcció General de Política Lingüística du gouvernement catalan. Ces premiers résultats de l’EUL-CN sont complétés par le point sur la situation de l’enseignement du catalan pour dresser un paysage global de l’état du catalan en début de 21e siècle. La situation est critique, mais pas désespérée et les solutions existent.

It is based on Genre-based pedagogy and Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), which in general terms is assumed as a pedagogical and holistic perspective that responds to the needs posed by the economic, social and environmental environment, with a predominance of collaborative learning and in which, in turn, it is essential to show that textual production is a process developed in different phases that are oriented to achieve a specific communicative purpose.

    Description: It is evident that having solid reading and writing skills is fundamental to achieve an outstanding academic performance during the university stage; both competencies constitute modes of knowledge construction and, therefore, are fundamental in the social, academic and professional development of human beings. In this sense, reading and writing skills allow students to integrate into the disciplinary discursive communities and to achieve participation and success in the tasks of textual analysis and production, necessary for their learning process (Carlino, 2005). Thus, several researches have been concerned with investigating the deficiencies in the reading and writing levels of students entering university (Colectivo Comunicación, 2002; Flórez et al., 2005; Pérez and Rincón, 2013), since this difficulty is related to academic failure and dropout in higher education (Benítez et al., 2021; Guerrero, 2018; Mendoza et al., 2022; Olave-Arias et al., 2013).

    Description: Es evidente que tener habilidades sólidas de lectura y escritura resulta fundamental para lograr un desempeño académico sobresaliente durante la etapa universitaria, ambas competencias se constituyen en modos de construcción del conocimiento y, por tanto, son fundamentales en el desarrollo social, académico y profesional del ser humano. En ese sentido, las competencias de lectura y escritura permiten que los estudiantes se integren en las comunidades discursivas disciplinares y que logren ser partícipes y exitosos en las tareas de análisis y producción textual, necesarias para su proceso de aprendizaje (Carlino, 2005). Es así, que diversas investigaciones se han preocupado por indagar sobre las deficiencias en los niveles de lectura y escritura de los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso a la universidad (Colectivo Comunicación, 2002; Flórez et al., 2005; Pérez y Rincón, 2013), ya que esta dificultad se relaciona con el fracaso académico y el abandono en la educación superior (Benítez et al., 2021; Guerrero, 2018; Mendoza et al., 2022; Olave-Arias et al., 2013).

    Description: The conference of the Coimbra Philosophical Journal entitled “Method and Methods of Philosophical thought” was held on 27th and 28th April 2006 at the Institute of Philosophical Studies, Faculty of Letters, University of Coimbra. The conference proceedings cover the problem of the method of philosophy in various historical and systematic contexts since Plato. This work brings together different approaches to a theme that is fundamental for the whole of philosophical thought, whether one is positioning oneself as a detached observer of any method, or vindicating autonomy before the very concept of method. From the dialectic, transcendental, phenomenological, hermeneutic, analytic, conceptual history or systems theory perspectives, this work reflects about what one is doing when one philosophizes and how the object of thought is pursued when a philosophical problem is studied systematically, (i.e., the very “know yourself” of philosophy). This plural reflection on methods of philosophical thought launches a special series of the Coimbra Philosophical Journal.
