Notes:
Abstract Human myometrium was extracted and the isoenzymes of MDH were separated by high-volt electrophoresis on acetylcellulose. The distance between the maxima of MDH I and MDH II was above 3 cm after a run for 75 min. MDH I was found to be due to cytoplasma and MDH II to mitochondria. The distribution of MDH-isoenzymes and the specific activities of MDH, GlDH and LDH in normal and pregnant uteri were compared. Pregnancy caused a decrease in the activities of the mitochondrial enzymes MDH II and GlDH, whereas the cytoplasmatic enzymes MDH I and LDH were constant. MDH was reversibly adsorbed by acetylcellulose. The proportion of dissolved and adsorbed enzyme is equal for MDH I and MDH II. Furthermore GlDH and the isoenzymes of MDH in light and dark scelet muscles of rabbit were investigated.
