Notes:
Summary An IR-spectrophotometric determination of COS in technical gases is described. 0.3 to 1.200 ppm of COS can be determined by means of a double-beam photometer and 10 cm or 1 m-cuvettes. CO2 and hydrocarbons in usual concentrations do not cause interferences. The effect of CO is eliminated by absorption and compensation. In the range above the limit of detection the differential method is employed and the band area is used for evaluation.
