Description: Recently, Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks (WRSNs) have been attracting increasing attention and seen rapid development. However, in previous studies, pioneering work on charging issues and data gathering strategies are always discussed separately. In this paper, we aimed to develop a strategy which can guarantee a short data acquisition cycle and high charging efficiency. We used a new Combined Recharging and Collecting Data Model (CRCM) to set-up a WRSN. In this network, mobile chargers were used to separately collected data and charge sensor nodes. A K-means algorithm was used to group sensor nodes into different clusters, from which mobile chargers collected data from sensor nodes in the center of these clusters. The Nearest-Job-Next with Preemption (NJNP) algorithm was used to determine the charging route. The data acquisition cycle was first discussed in this model in order to ensure all data from the sensor nodes could be gathered within a certain time period. Additionally, the Periodically Restricted Dynamic Mobile Chargers (PRDMCs) algorithm was proposed to determine the number of mobile chargers. Lastly, we used the normal CRCM for comparison with our new CRCM, and the results showed that the new CRCM can effectively safeguard the data acquisition cycle without requiring the addition of more mobile chargers.

Description: Symmetry, Vol. 10, Pages 319: CRCM: A New Combined Data Gathering and Energy Charging Model for WRSN Symmetry doi: 10.3390/sym10080319 Authors: Yuhou Wang Ying Dong Shiyuan Li Hao Wu Mengyao Cui With the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the problem about how to increase the lifecycle of the WSNs is always a hot discussion point, and some researchers have devoted to the ‘energy saving’ to decrease the energy consumption of the sensor nodes by different algorithms. However, the fundamental technique is ‘energy acquiring’ for the battery which can solve the limited capacity problem. In this paper, we study the data gathering and energy charging by a mobile charger (MC) at the same time that most energy consumption can be saved by short communication distance. We have named this as the recharging model-combined recharging and collecting data model on-demand (CRCM). Firstly, the hexagon-based (HB) algorithm is proposed to sort all sensor nodes in the region to make data collecting and energy charging work at the same time. Then we consider both residual energy and geographic position (REGP) of the sensor node to calculate the priority of each cluster. Thirdly, the dynamic mobile charger (DMC) algorithm is proposed to calculate the number of MCs to make sure no sensor node will die in each charging queue. Finally, the simulations show that our REGP algorithm is better than Earliest Deadline First (EDF) and Nearest-Job-Next with Preemption (NJNP), and the DMC plays well when the number of sensor nodes increase.

Description: Because of the continuous burst of emergency events (EEs) recently, emergency decision making (EDM) has become an active research topic due to its crucial role in relieving and reducing various losses and damages (property, lives, environment, etc.) caused by EEs. Current EDM studies based on prospect theory (PT) have considered decision maker’s (DM’s) psychological behavior, which is very important in the EDM process because it affects DM’s decision behavior directly, particularly under the uncertainty decision environment. However, those studies neglected an important fact that different emergency situations should be handled by different measures to show the pertinence and effectiveness of the emergency response in the real world, which has been taken into consideration in EDM studies based on game theory (GT). Different behavior experiments show that DMs usually have limited rationality when involved in risk and an uncertain decision environment, in which their psychological behavior has distinct impacts on their decision choice and behavior. Nevertheless, the existing studies of EDM based on GT build on an assumption that DMs are totally rational; however, it is obvious that such an assumption is unreasonable and far from the real-world situation. Motivated by these limitations pointed out previously, this study proposes a novel EDM method combining GT and PT that considers not only the DM’s psychological behavior, but also takes different situations’ handling for EEs into account, which is closer to the EDM problems in reality. An example and comparison with other methods are provided to demonstrate the validity and rationality of the proposed method for coping with real-world EDM problems.

Description: GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation in agriculture is facing many challenges, such as weak signals in orchards and the high cost for small plots of farmland. With the reduction of camera cost and the emergence of excellent visual algorithms, visual navigation can solve the above problems. Visual navigation is a navigation technology that uses cameras to sense environmental information as the basis of an aircraft flight. It is mainly divided into five parts: Image acquisition, landmark recognition, route planning, flight control, and obstacle avoidance. Here, landmarks are plant canopy, buildings, mountains, and rivers, with unique geographical characteristics in a place. During visual navigation, landmark location and route tracking are key links. When there are significant color-differences (for example, the differences among red, green, and blue) between a landmark and the background, the landmark can be recognized based on classical visual algorithms. However, in the case of non-significant color-differences (for example, the differences between dark green and vivid green) between a landmark and the background, there are no robust and high-precision methods for landmark identification. In view of the above problem, visual navigation in a maize field is studied. First, the block recognition method based on fine-tuned Inception-V3 is developed; then, the maize canopy landmark is recognized based on the above method; finally, local navigation lines are extracted from the landmarks based on the maize canopy grayscale gradient law. The results show that the accuracy is 0.9501. When the block number is 256, the block recognition method achieves the best segmentation. The average segmentation quality is 0.87, and time is 0.251 s. This study suggests that stable visual semantic navigation can be achieved under the near color background. It will be an important reference for the navigation of plant protection UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

Description: The existing definition method of filter grid scale in a Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) hybrid model is unreasonable, which will lead to the unreasonable trigger of a boundary layer large eddy simulation and reduce computational efficiency. In view of this problem, the filter grid scale is discussed in this paper. The 90° square curved elbow is selected as the research object. The effects of three grid definition methods: geometric mean (ΔGM), arithmetic mean (ΔAM) and quadratic mean (ΔQM) on the simulation results of the DES model are compared, and the velocity distribution of the flow cross section and the distribution of the flow pressure coefficient on the outer arc surface are compared with the experimental results of Taylor. The results show that the order of the three definition methods is ΔGM≤ΔAM≤ΔQM. Meanwhile, within 30° 〈 polar angle(θ) 〈 75°, the results are closer to the experiment, and the development trends and numerical values of ΔAM and ΔQM are closer to the experiment in general. However, when θ 〉 60°, the value of ΔQM is slightly closer to the experimental result than ΔAM. ΔQM is more suitable for calculating the internal flow in a curved elbow than the other two methods.
