    Notes: Zusammenfassung 1. Im Hinblick auf ihre Verwendung als zweite Kohlenstoffquelle neben Glycerin wird der Einfluß verschiedener Substrate auf die Ruhe- und Vermehrungsatmung INH-sensibler und-resistenter Bakterien untersucht. 2. Substrate mit einem Q O 2 zwischen-8,2 und-4 bei ruhenden Bakterien zeigen auch bei sich vermehrenden Keimen eine für Vermehrungsvorgänge charakteristische Sauerstoffaufnahme. Beim Zusatz der anderen Substrate läßt sich dagegen eine Vermehrung nicht mehr erkennen. 3. Während sich bei der Ruheatmung zwischen INH-sensiblen und-resistenten Bakterien kaum Unterschiede feststellen lassen, ist bei der resistenten Variante die Vermehrungsatmung bei allen geprüften Substraten verzögert. 4. Mit Ausnahme der Ameisensäure entspricht der R Q bei allen Substraten einer vollständigen Oxydation zu Kohlendioxyd und Wasser. 5. Der R Q für Brenztrauben- und Oxalessigsäure zeigt zwischen der INH-sensiblen und-resistenten Population statistisch gesicherte Differenzen. Dieser Befund ist mit einer erhöhten Decarboxylaseaktivität der sensiblen Variante zu erklären.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung 1. Der Einfluß zweier Kohlenstoffquellen auf die Ruhe- und Vermehrungsatmung INH-sensibler und-resistenter Zellen von M. phlei wird untersucht. Zur Erweiterung der Aussagemöglichkeiten erfolgt parallel zur Messung der Sauerstoffaufnahme die Bestimmung des in der Nährlösung vorhandenen Glycerins. 2. Der Einfluß der zugesetzten Substrate ist mit einigen Ausnahmen auf ruhende und sich vermehrende Bakterien praktisch gleichsinnig. Manche Substrate, wie Essigsäure, werden anscheinend gleichzeitig mit Glycerin verbraucht. Die Wirkung anderer, z. B. Malon- und Glyoxylsäure, setzt erst nach Verbrauch des Glycerins ein. 3. In der Ruheatmung zeigen sich zwischen INH-sensiblen und-resistenten Bakterien deutliche Unterschiede hinsichtlich der Zuordnung der einzelnen Substrate zu den einzelnen Gruppen. Die Sauerstoffaufnahme der sensiblen Keime wird durch Ameisen-, Essig- und Bernsteinsäure besonders charakteristisch beeinflußt. 4. Die Sauerstoffaufnahme sich vermehrender Keime wird durch Zusatz einer 2. Kohlenstoffquelle in den ersten Stunden erniedrigt. 5. Der Zusatz von Citronensäure ist nur bei resistenten Keimen von Einfluß. Er äußert sich in der Ruheatmung wie ein entsprechender Essigsäurezusatz und unterbindet die Vermehrung in der Vermehrungsphase.
