    Description / Table of Contents: Summary A description of a carbonyl group determination is given. In this the material being studied is condensed to the corresponding hydrazones by means of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine or 4-nitrophenylhydrazine or of 2,4,6trinitrophenylhydrazine. The unconsumed nitrophenylhydrazine is reduced with titanous chloride and the excess of the latter is determined volumetrically by ferric ammonium sulfate. In case the quantitative transformation is not successful, the number of carbonyl groups can be calculated from the nitrogen content of the pure hydrazone that has been prepared by the given procedure.
    Abstract: Résumé On décrit un dosage du groupement carbonyle d'après lequel la substance expérimentée est condensée avec la dinitro-2,4 phénylhydrazine ou la nitro-4 phénylhydrazine ou avec la trinitro-2,4,6 phénylhydrazine en les hydrazones correspondantes. La nitro-phénylhydrazine non utilisée pour la formation d'hydrazone est réduite par le trichlorure de titane et l'excès de ce dernier est évalué volumétriquement par l'alun ferrique ammoniacal. Dans le cas où la transformation quantitative en hydrazone n'a pas lieu, on calcule le nombre de groupements carbonyles par dosage d'azote dans l'hydrazone préparée à l'état de pureté pour l'analyse.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Carbonylgruppenbestimmung beschrieben, wonach die zu untersuchende Substanz mit 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazin bzw. mit 4-Nitrophenylhydrazin oder auch mit 2,4,6-Trinitrophenylhydrazin zu den entsprechenden Hydrazonen kondensiert wird. Das nicht zur Hydrazonbildung verbrauchte Nitrophenylhydrazin wird mit Titantrichlorid reduziert und das überschüssige Titantrichlorid mit Eisen-III-Ammoniumsulfat maßanalytisch erfaßt. Im Falle als die quantitative Umsetzung zum Hydrazon nicht gelingt, läßt sich durch die Stickstoffbestimmung im analysenrein dargestellten Hydrazon die Zahl der Carbonylgruppen berechnen.
