Description: Aeolian sediments on the Tibetan Plateau are an important archive of palaeoclimatic information. This study presents a detailed analysis of sediments from the Donggi Cona catchment on the north-eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau. Long- and short-distance sediment transport leads to a complex pattern of aeolian sediment deposition that depends on climatic changes as well as on the availability of sediments. Based on the largest dataset of OSL datings (51) from a single catchment on the Tibetan Plateau so far, different periods of increased sediment transport have been reconstructed. Increased aeolian deposition in this high elevation environment started in the early Holocene with the accumulation of sands from around 10.5 to 7 ka. Loess sediments have been preserved from a period from 10.5 to 7.5 ka. Both archives are related to the strengthening of the Asian summer monsoons characterized by wetter and warmer climate. This change in climate supported the trapping of aeolian sediments. Under full monsoon conditions from around 9 ka onwards fluvial processes resulted in erosion of the aeolian archives and the formation of colluvial sediments until 6 ka. A dry and cooler climate resulted in the reactivation of dune sands from 3 ka to present, possibly in combination with stronger human influence. Aeolian sediments on the Tibetan Plateau therefore indicate two different climatic modes. During the early Holocene wetter conditions were favourable to retain aeolian sediments. The reactivation of sediment in the late Holocene due to small-scale disturbances in the vegetation cover, points to a cooler and drier climate.

Description: Energy service companies (ESCOs) play crucial role in building energy efficiency retrofit sector. However limited access to green financing has prevented ESCOs in their expansions in China. This paper, based on a survey of 469 samples and on-site visiting to and interviewing relevant 50 actors of ESCOs, financial institutions and local housing authorities, identifies main barriers of accessing to green financing at both systemic policy level and operational meso and micro level in China, and analyzes good practices at local level that overcome the barriers. The paper concludes that, although there are barriers existing at the policy level in China, substantial attentions and priorities should be given to take actions for overcoming the barriers existed at the operational meso and micro level. The paper suggests that the good practices of capacity building for ESCOs and local financial sector, intensifying participation of intermediate organizations or facilitators and diversifying financial sources and funding mechanisms and models that emerge from the local level should be disseminated in China.

Notes: Abstract  The alkylation of DNA by antitumor agents such as mechlorethamine hydrochloride (mustargen), thiophosphoramide (TSPA), mitomycin c (MMC), bleomycin-A5 and dacarbazine (DTIC) can be detected with quartz crystal resonators (QCR). In the course of alkylation, the resonator frequency change in polyethylene glycol (PEG)-DNA solutions follows the cross-linking of DNA and the cleavage of the sugarphosphate backbone of DNA. It is at least partly attributed to the viscosity change of the PEG-DNA solution and possibly to some extent to the change of mass adsorbed on the QCR surface due to cross-linking and cleavage. Experimental results are consistent with that expected from theory.

Notes: Carbosilanes synthesized from high-pressure treatment of polysilane, were fractional distilledand separated. Carbosilanes, characterized by IR and 1HNMR measurement, are composed of linear andcyclic carbosilanes with some Si-H end groups. Crosslinking occurred between carbosilanes and divinylbenzene and gave gel content of 52%, and further ceramic yield of 36% upon pyrolysis at 1200°C. Thepyrolyzates contain microcrystal SiC and free carbon, which was approved by XRD measurement

Notes: In this paper, 3D Cf/Si-Ti-C-O composites were prepared with a polytitanocarbosilane (PTC)via polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) process, and accordingly the mechanical, oxidation resistingand thermal shock resisting properties were investigated. The composites with density of 1.93g·cm-3 showrather high flexural strength (485.3MPa) and fracture toughness (19.95MPa⋅m1/2), and typical non-brittlefracture failure mode. After oxidation treatment at 1300°C for 10 minutes in air, the flexural strength ofthe samples is 306.2MPa, with 63% strength retention. After 5 times of thermal shock tests from roomtemperature to 1300°C, the flexural strength of the samples is 408.9MPa, about 85% strength retention.SEM observation also testifies non-brittle failure because many fibers are pulled out on the fracturesurface. After oxidation treatment, the matrix shows no changes from XRD measurement

Notes: In the process of products design, most input information for Quality FunctionDeployment always possess the characteristics of fuzziness and language, so, various inputinformation of house of quality are regarded as language variable, glossary convene of fuzzylanguage and fuzzy numeral. The main idea of modeling of fuzzy information with house of quality isexplained in detail, and fuzzy integrating of custom needs and fuzzy modeling of products planningwith HOQ are proposed. Thus, the fuzzy or qualitative information can be dealt with efficiently, andthe significative decision in fuzzy circumstance can be made

Notes: With the development of science and technology, harmonious design will be one of thelatest trends in modern mechanical products development. Based on the harmonious design method, the well synthesized quality products will be invented. It will have little negative influence on societyand the natural environment, and the high utilization rate of resources and the most comprehensivebenefits in the full lifecycle from planning, designing, manufacturing, packaging, and discarded. Theharmonious state can be obtained between products with political, economic, cultural, legal, scientific, natural and social environments. The harmonious design is investigated from the harmonyof design methods; the harmony of product function with performance; and the harmony of productwith product, with human, with technology, with society environment and with natural environment. And the evaluation of harmonious degree and management system are studied in this work, too. Basedon system engineering and economic, cultural, legal, scientific, natural and social environmentfactors, the formula of the complete system of products design is established. Therefore, the newvitality and higher market competitiveness of product can be achieved. Not only the design is forhuman but also for nature, for the harmony of human and nature

Notes: Nanostructured ceramic coatings has excellent properties, their industrial applicationdepends not only on their fabrication but also on their precision grinding technology, so it isnecessary to study the material removal mechanism in grinding of nanostructured ceramic coatings. This paper presents experimental results on how the grinding processes parameters affect thegrinding force ratio and specific grinding energy as well as surface roughness in precision surfacegrinding of nanostructured WC/12Co (n-WC/12Co) coating and also presents SEM observations ofsurface and subsurface of n-WC/12Co coating ground under different grinding conditions.Furthermore this paper discusses the material removal mechanism in grinding of n-WC/12Cocoatings and gives priority to inelastic deformation instead of brittle fracture, which providestheoretical basis for the precision grinding of nanostructured ceramic coating

Notes: 3D C/SiC composites were fabricated by polycarbosilane (PCS) infiltration and pyrolysisprocess. The influence of pretreatment of carbon fiber, including pyrolytic carbon coating and thermaltreatment, on mechanical properties of C/SiC composites was investigated. The results showed that thecomposites without fiber pretreatment had a flexural strength of 154MPa and a fracture toughness of 4.8MPa•m1/2, while those with carbon coating or thermal treatment had much higher strength and toughness, that is, more than 400MPa and 15MPa•m1/2 respectively. Weak interfacial bonding and better in-situstrength of carbon fiber were main reasons for mechanical property improvement with pretreated carbonfiber
