    Notes: The porous apatite-wollastonite bioactive glass-ceramic (AW-GG) was made fromnano-precursor powders derived from sol-gel process, and shaped by dipping method with polymerfoam. The physical-chemical properties, bioactivity and biocompatibility of the materials werestudied by means of TG, XRD, SEM, TEM and so on. The bioactivity was investigated in simulatedbody fluid (SBF) and the biocompatibility was evaluated by co-culturing with marrow stromal cells(MSCs). The result shows that: the particle size of the AW precursor powders is 40~100nm; porousAW GC has three-dimensional pored structure with 300~500um macropores and 2~5um micropores;the materials possess high bioactivity and biocompatibility. Porous AW GC may therefore have greatpotential application as bone tissue engineering scaffold

    Notes: Merwinite powders were synthesized by a sol-gel process. The bioactivity in vitro of merwinite wasinvestigated by soaking the powders in simulated body fluid (SBF), the growth of hydroxyapatite(HAp) on thesurface of the powder was evaluated in various time. It was found that hydroxyapatite was formed after soakingfor 14 days. The results indicate that merwinite possessed apatite-formation ability might be a potential candidatebiomaterial for hard tissue repair

    Notes: Abstract A study is made of equilibrium and stability properties of a semi-toroidal current loop imbedded in a high temperature plasma. The loop carries a toroidal current density J t and poloidal current density J p. By explicity including the global curvature of the loop, the net Lorentz and pressure forces acting along the major radius are calculated. Requirement of equilibrium force-balance gives rise to conditions that must be satisfied by the physical parameters and geometry. On the basis of these conditions, we deduce a class of equilibrium semi-toroidal current loops satisfying c #X2212;1 J × B − ▽p = 0. It is found that the averge pressure inside the loop is less than the ambient coronal pressure in equilibrium. Furthermore, this class of equilibria is shown to be stable to a number of destructive MHD modes. The theoretical results are discussed in the context of solar bipolar current loops.

Diese Arbeit stellt ein (s, S)-Lagerhaltungssystem mit kontinuierlicher Bestandsüberwachung und solchen Rückflüssen vor. Das System ist relativ kompliziert, da sein Verhalten von vielen Einflußfaktoren wie Nachfragerate, Rückgabezeit, Rückflußrate und Wiederbeschaffungshäufigkeit abhängt. Unter Verwendung eines Markov-Ansatzes werden wesentliche Kenngrößen des Systems abgeleitet und ein Algorithmus zur Bestimmung der optimalen Dispositionsparameter vorgeschlagen. Die Ergebnisse ermöglichen wertvolle Einblicke in das Sytem wie z.B. in Hinblick auf den Einfluß partieller Rückgaben.
    Notes: Abstract Returns of merchandise occur commonly in the retail and rental businesses. This paper presents a new continuous review (s, S) inventory system with returns. The system is fairly complicated as its performance is a function of important factors such as demand rate, return time, return rate and replenishment frequency. Based on a Markovian approach, we derive essential operating characteristics of the system, and propose an algorithm to search for the optimal replenishment parameters. The results enable us to obtain valuable insights into the rental system, such as the impact of partial returns.

    Notes: Oligodendrocytes, the myelinating cells of the central nervous system, are terminally differentiated cells that originate through asynchronous waves of proliferation and differentiation of precursors present at birth. Withdrawal from cell cycle and onset of differentiation are tightly linked and depend on an intrinsic program modulated by the action of growth factors. p27 plays a central and obligatory role in the initiation of oligodendrocyte differentiation and cessation of proliferation. In this paper, we have characterized the role of modulation of cdk2 and cdk5 kinase activity during the process of oligodendrocyte precursor differentiation. As rat primary oligodendrocytes differentiate in culture there is a fall in cdk2 activity and a rise in cdk5 activity as well as an increase in the cdk inhibitor, p27 protein. The decline in cdk2 activity is not accompanied by a drop in cdk2 protein level, suggesting that it results from inhibition of cdk2 activation rather than decreased protein expression. Taken together, these data suggest that oligodendrocytes may withdraw from the cell cycle at G1-S transition through inactivation of cdk2 activity, possibly initiated by increasing amount of p27, and that cdk5 may have a role until now unrecognized in the differentiation of oligodendrocytes.
