Abstract: "Microalgae Biotechnology for Food, Health and High Value Products” presents the latest technological innovations in microalgae production, market status of algal biomass-based products, and future prospects for microalgal applications. It provides stimulating overviews from different perspectives of application that demonstrate how rapidly the commercial production of microalgae-based food, health and high value products is advancing. It also addresses a range of open questions and challenges in this field. The book highlights the latest advances of interest to those already working in the field, while providing a comprehensive overview for those readers just beginning to learn about the promise of microalgae as a sustainable source of both specialty and commercial products. It offers a valuable asset for commercial algae producers, algae product developers, scientific researchers and students who are dedicated to the advancement of microalgae biotechnology for applications in health, diet, nutrition, cosmetics, biomaterials etc. .

In:  Supplement to: Xu, Jing-Xian; Ferguson, David-Kay; Li, Cheng-Sen; Wang, Yu-Fei; Du, Nai-Qiu (2004): Climatic and ecological implications of Late Pliocene Palynoflora from Longling, Yunnan, China. Quaternary International, 117(1), 91-103, https://doi.org/10.1016/S1040-6182(03)00119-8

Description: The Longling Coal Mine (W. Yunnan) is situated in an area of substantial geotectonic activity. Its Late Pliocene palynoflora is of considerable interest, since the area represents a centre of biodiversity. Eighty-two palynomorphs belonging to 61 families were recovered from the lignite. The palynoflora is dominated by angiosperms (68.3%), with ferns (24.4%), gymnosperms (4.9%) and algae (2.4%). Comparisons indicate that most of the palynoflora was derived from the Montane Humid Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest, with lesser contributions from the Tsuga dumosa Forest and Evergreen Coniferous Broad-leaved Mixed Forest, as well as the Montane Mossy Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest. This indicates that the Late Pliocene climate was cooler than that of the present. In the course of the accumulation of the lignite, the climate underwent five major phases of warming and cooling.

Notes: Computer-aided design tolerances (CADT) technology got far behind the CAD, CAPP,CAM etc, although there are many commercial tolerance software, but the tolerance optimal designstill can’t be completed, which seriously affects the CAX technology's integral roles. Based on thetolerance computation function of the UG Quick Stack module, this paper accomplishes the productassembly relation modeling, tolerance distribution, locked circle calculation and so on, achieves theoptimal design tolerance of whole product

Notes: To retain the optimum hydration level of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC)without humidification sub-system, a novel self-humidifying composite membrane was fabricated bythe technology of Si[OCH2CH3]4 in situ sol-gel reaction in a commercial Nafion 112 membrane. Thephysico-chemical properties of the membrane were studied by means of AFM, SEM and ACimpedance. These results showed that the nano-SiO2 reactant was uniformly distributed in thecomposite membrane. It was found that the proton conductivity increased observably by dispersing 3wt % nano-SiO2 in the composite membrane at low water content, and the SiO2/Nafion compositemembrane improved the self-humidifying performance of PEMFC

Notes: This work proposes a practical approach to generating NURBS tool paths by accuratelyfitting ideal paths. A two-stage fitting process is included in this approach. Since NURBS paths canmake accurate, smooth sculpture surfaces, this approach can promote the use of these paths in themanufacturing industry

Notes: Measurements of the quality factor (Q) and period (P0) of two Al 5056 torsional oscillators are presented as a function of temperature from 0.02 to 1.2 K. The 5056 alloy is found to have Q's of order 104 at room temperature and 107 below 4 K. In addition to having an extraordinary high Q, we also find that the temperature dependence of the reduced period, ΔP/P0, is extremely weak at low temperatures, making this material well suited for superfluid helium film studies. A technique for attaching thin dielectric substrates to the torsion member of one of the oscillators is also discussed.

Notes: A technique for measuring the specific heat of small samples over a wide temperature range is described. The method uses a sequence of increasing and decreasing power levels applied to a heater thermally attached to a sample and thermometer with the entire assembly connected to a heat reservoir through a weak thermal link. By recording the temperature both on the heating and cooling portions of the sequence, the heat loss to the surroundings automatically can be eliminated from the calculation of the specific heat. The measuring system and data analysis technique are described. Example data of the specific heat change at the superconducting transition of 34 mg of In are given.
