    Abstract: This book analyses climate change influences on rainfall erosivity and soil erosion across Central Asia, provides an overview (past and projections) on the Central Asian countries where projected changes in rainfall erosivity and erosivity density are the greatest, and discusses the potential impacts on the environment across the region. This analysis is accomplished primarily using the RUSLE model with past and future climate projections, spatiotemporal variations of rainfall erosivity and soil erosion based on WorldClim, and Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) climate models (for Central Asia and separately Kazakhstan). The relationship between precipitation characteristics and erosion has been well established, but spatial and temporal projections of future rainfall erosivity in a changing climate in Central Asia have not been published significantly. Therefore, assessing rainfall erosivity and its consequences can assist specialists and researchers in achieving the best practices for soil conservation. The result of this type of research is all-encompassing, and may reflect normal variations in other parts of the world (for example, the arid and semi-arid regions) and is inherently limited to the Central Asian region.

    Description / Table of Contents: The variations of 30 MHz riometer signals at the high latitude stations of Davis (geographic coordinates 68.6°S, 78.0°E ; invariant latitude 74.5°S) and Casey (geographic coordinates 66.2°S, 110.4°E; invariant latitude 80.6°S) are investigated. The general variation in ionospheric absorption at these stations is investigated for normal conditions and specifically for some disturbed periods. The quiet day diurnal variation of the riometer signal at both stations has a quasi-sinusoidal shape. At both stations, the quiet day signal is larger in winter than in summer. Some absorption events at both stations are closely related to auroral substorms. However the Davis events generally commence at an earlier magnetic local time, last longer and have a larger maximum absorption amplitude than the associated Casey events. Both stations show an increase in average absorption around local magnetic noon. This may be an absorption signature of the passage of the magnetospheric cusp over these high latitude stations. These magnetic midday events were generally of lower absorption amplitude than the events observed around magnetic midnight.

    Notes: The dielectric response of [110]-oriented 0.68PMN-0.32PT single crystal under dc electricfield has been investigated. The characteristics of phase transition under temperature and dc electric fieldare provided. When electric field is above 2.3kV/cm, abnormal phase transition is induced by temperatureand electric field, which corresponds to the phase transition from rhombohedral to orthorhombicferroelectric phase. With increasing dc electric field, the stable temperature region of orthorhombic phaseis expanded.
