Description / Table of Contents:
The mass spectra of simple alkyl-N-phenylcarbamates are presented. The wellknown skeletal rearrangement of ethyl-N-phenylcarbamate giving rise to the [C6H5NHCH2]+ ion2 also plays an important role in the fragmentation of the methyl, propyl and butyl homologues. The mechanism of its formation postulated by Lewis in 1964 has been shown to be incorrect with the aid of deuterium and 13C-labelling.
Notes:
