Abstract The multiple performances of manufacturing systems are given by applying theoretical/heuristic knowledge to hierarchical control loop in various ways. It is shown that the energy consumption of motor control, the operation speed of path control, the cost-performance/productivity of machining control, and the margin to the due dates of intelligent machines are significantly improved by using the knowledge of electromagnetism, dynamics, machining and scheduling, respectively, with sensor signals in the system.
