Notes:
The nutritive values of corn meal, corn residue and yeast were measured by total ammo acids (chemically measured), available lysine, methionine and tryptophan (measured microbiologically), and relative nutritive value (measured with Tetruhymena W). Male rats were fed corn, C. tropicalis, corn residue and mixtures of corn and C. tropicalis and corn residue plus C. tropicalis. C. tropicalis, corn residue, and corn residue plus C tropicalis were enriched with limiting amino acids and fed. Enriched feeds produced better growth (better protein quality) than the nonenriched feeds in both rats and Tetruhymena.
