Abstract The experimental phase of a study program relating to thermal effects on elastic deformations of built-up low-aspect-ratio wing structures is described. Techniques were developed for the experimental determination of deflection-influence coefficients for wings subjected to elevated temperatures and temperature gradients. Tests were conducted on two model wings and numerous deflection-influence coefficient sets were determined for various temperature distributions. Details of the models, the testing apparatus and instrumentation and selected test results and comparisons are given.
